Carter, who will be married
December 3, were honored at a
cookout Saturday night, October
15, at the home of Dr. and Mrs.
John C. McGill.
Sharing in host duties with the
McGills were Mr. and Mrs. Don
Crawford.
Guests dress, in western attire,
arrived to a yard decorated with
bales of hay and pumpkins.
Upon arrival, Dr. McGill serv-
ed the guests roasted peanuts.
Hamburgers and the trimm-
ings were served on the porch
from tables covered with red
checked cloths and decorated
with wrought iron hurricans
candles.
Music was furnished by John
Y arbrough.
During the evening the host
couples presented their gifts to
the bridal couple.
Guests included friends and
parents of the couple, Mr. and
Mrs. David Hinson and Mr. and
Mrs. Eugene McCarter. Also
Mrs. William K. Ervin of Ander-
son, South Carolina, aunt of the
prospective groom.
DINNER PARTY
Annette Hinson and Billy Mc-
Carter, who will be married Dec.
3, were honored at a dinner par-
ty Saturday evening, October
22, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Bryant.
Sharing in host duties with the
Bryants were Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Shawver, Mr. and Mrs.
James David and Mr. and Mrs.
John Barrington.
Miss Henson was presented a
corsage of yellow garza mums
and white daisies. Yellow mums
and diasies were used
throughout the house.
Guests were seated at small
tables covered with white linen
cloths edged with white lace and
centered with an arrangement of
mums, daisies, and greenery.
A delicious threee course din-
ner was served after which
champagne toasts were made to
the bridal couple.
Host couples chose this time
to present gifts of china to the
honored couple.
Among the twenty guests

Mr.and Mrs. David Hinson and
the = prospective ' bridegroom’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
McCarter.
KITCHEN SHOWER
Miss Annette Hinson, who
will marry Billy McCarter on
December 3, was honored with a
surprise kitchen shower by the
Thursday Night Bridge Club at
the home of Mrs. Louis Sabettie.
The guests enjoyed three pro-
gressions of bridge. High score
prize was won by Mrs. Ben T.
Goforth. Mrs. Hal S. Plonk was
invited to play with the club
members. Special guests were
the bride elect and her mother,

The Open Gate Garden Club
met November 9 at 3 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. Eugene McCarter.
Members wre served delicious
refreshments as they arrived.
Mrs. Elizabeth Gamble had
charge of the program. She
presented Mrs. Lena Mcgill who
read a beautiful short
Thanksgiving story before going
Bennett and Mrs. Ray Herndon.
A Strawberry theme was car-
ried out with a basket of silk
floweres and strawberries on the
refreshment table. Strawberry
punch, crystallized strawberries,
chesses wafers, nuts and cake
squares were served between the
hours of four and six.
Among the guests were the
bride elect’s mother, Mrs. David
Hinson of Shelby; her grand-
mothers, Mrs. Jeanette Hinson
of Troutman and Mrs. Annie
Plylers of Shelby; her aunt, Mrs.
Homer Hinson of Troutman;
and the prospective bridegroom’s
mother, Mrs. Eugene McCarter
of Kings Mountain.

Miss Sharon Annette Hinson,

a luncheon Saturday, November
12 at Cleveland Country Club in
Shelby.
Hostesses for the luncheon
were Mrs. Jimmy Tucker, Mrs.
James Kirkland, and Mrs. John
Raynor of Shelby.

practical and helpful.

sion. The meeting was closed
