He was the son of the late Grover C. and Cora Lee Rudisill Goode and was employed as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Hawkins Goode; four sons, Michael Goode and Jeffrey Goode of Kings Mountain, David Goode of Bessemer City and Kenneth Goode of Rising- Fawn, Ga.; a daughter, Colleen Go. Autry of Chickamaugh, Ga.; a sister, Ann Goode of Kings Mountain; and seven grandchildren. Services were conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City by the Rev. Leonard Huffstetler and the Rev. W.F. Payne. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. BERTHA SPRATT FOREST CITY - Bertha Mur- ray Spratt, 73, of Sruce Street, died Wednesday at Clayton General Hospital in Atlanta. A Rutherford County native, she was the wife of the late James Romeo “Jack” Spratt and the daughter of the late George Coran and Alice Haynes Mur- ray. She is survived by two sons, Gene L. Spratt of Forest City and Jerry D. Spratt of Jonesboro, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Carol Baynard of Forest City, Mrs. Judy Brantley of Forest City, and Mrs. Dottie Childers of Earl; four sisters, Mrs. Geneva Hardin of Forest City, Mrs. Lillian Duncan of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Virginia Laws of Crouse and Mrs. Aileen Sheaff of Cherryville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Services were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen by the Rev. Phillip J. Birchall and the Rev. R.H. Kindschi. Burial was in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. TABITHA JONES Tabitha Hope Jones, infant daughter of Scott Jones and Tammy Sprouse of Kings Moun- tain, died Sunday at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were con- ducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. In addition to her parents, Tabitha is survived by her pater- nal grandparents, Gene Jones of Gastonia and Pat Jones of Bessemer City; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fur- man Sprouse of Kings Moun- tain. GEORGE HOWELL CHERRYVILLE - George Patrick Howell, 17, of Mary’s Grove Road, died Wednesday at 4:02 p.m. in Gaston Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was a 10th grader at Bessemer City High School and a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Lynn Franklin and Shirley Elam Howell; a sister, Wendy Lynn Howell of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Howell of Kings Mountain; maternal grandmother, Margaret Elam Dover of Kings Mountain; stepfather, Hubert Dover of Kings Mountain; and maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. George Elam of Shelby. Services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Needy May Apply For Toys Needy families wishing to get toys from the Kings Mountain Fire Department this year must pick up an application from the fire department by December 10. Toys only will be given by the firemen this year. Items such as fuel oil and groceries will come from other sources such as the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association or civic groups.
