The Moun- taineers host Chase tonight at 7:30. Moore’s Pin Gives KM Tie With Wildcats Heavyweight Dale . Moore of Kings Mountain High pinned North Gaston’s Paul Wilkinson in the final match of the night Thursday at the KMHS gym to give the Mountaineers a 33-33 tie with the Wildcats in a key Southwestern 3-A Conference wrestling match. The Mountaineers and Wildcats, two of the favored teams in the SWC chase, ended last week with 1-0-1 conference records and trailing Shelby and East Gaston (both 2-0) by a half- match. The Mountaineers are scheduled to host Chase Thurs- day night and travel to Shelby Monday night. : The lead changed hands several times during the early stages of the match. A pin by sophomore Roderick Boyce in the 147-pound match gave the Mountaineers a 21-18 lead, and senior David Parker stretched the margin to 27-18 by pinning North Gaston’s Bill Burkett in the 157-pound match. But the Wildcats tied the score with vic- tories by Jeff Comer and Steve “Adams in the 169 and 187 pound matches, and the visitors Boys Club Basketball Action Is Underway Action got underway last week in the Kings Mountain Ecagpes. On Wednesday, the 76ers edg- ed the Rockets 4340 and the Bulls defeated the Lakers 5448. Greg Young led the 76ers with 17 points and Alan Williams ad- ded 11. James Roberts scored 16 and John Hill 11 for the Rockets. Alan Williams had 22 and Greg Young 18 for the 76ers. In Saturday’s games, athe Hawks defeated the Lakers 4645, the Bucks outscored the Trail Blazers 86-75 and “the Celtics nipped the Spurs 57-56. Darius Ross scored 16 and Robbie Edgerton 15 for the Hawks. Shawn Smith scored 11 and Brent Bagwell and Jamie Surratte 10 each for the Lakers. Jerry Jordan scored 27 points and Derik Jordan added 20 to lead the Bucks. Jerry Currence of the Trail Blazers was the game’s top scorer with 31 points and Charles Hamilton and Tim Wright added 11 each. Alan Griggs scored 14 and Aubrey Hollifield 11 to lead the Celtics over the Spurs. Travis Crocker led the Spurs with 18 and Maury Williams added 12. KM’s Mack Drafted By Washington Federals Kings Mountain’s Kevin Mack was one of seven Clemson University players selected by the Washington Federals in last week’s territorial draft. Mack is a graduate of Kings Mountain ‘High School, where he led the Mountaineers to an 8-2 record in 1979. He establish- ed the school single game rushing record (289 yards) and single season rushing mark (1,585 yards), made All- Southwestern 3-A Conference and participated in the East- West All-Star Game. Mack led the Tigers in rushing this past season with 862 yards, a new Clemson record for a fullback, and was selected ACC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Duke (153 yards) and Maryland (186 yards). Mack led the South team in rushing in the Blue-Gray Classic Christmas Day in Montgomery, Ala., and was selected the Outstanding Offensive Player of KEVIN MACK the Gray team. The Federals will be trying to sign Mack and other draftees between now and May, when the NFL holds its annual draft of college seniors. from Dallas took a 33-27 lead when David Shaw pinned KM'’s Jeff Stokes in the 197-pound bout.
