Three Share Lead Theres a three-way tie for first place in the 10-13 year old division of the Boys Club basket - ball race, and the Celtics hold a one-game lead over the Bucks in the 14-16 year old group: The 76ers, Lakers and Rockets share the lead in the 10-13 year old division with 8-6 records. The Hawks are 6-7 and the Bulls 5-8. In the 14-16 divi- sion, the Celtics are 9-6, Bucks 8-7, Spurs 7-8 and Trail Blazers 69. KMHS Teams Involved In District Tourney Kings Mountain High's basketballers are competing this week in the District 7 3-A Tour- nament at Gardner-Webb Col- lege. The winners of both the boys and girls divisions advance to the Western Regional Tour- nament March 15-17 at Hickory High School. The Mountaineers, seeded fourth from the Southwestern 3-A Conference, were scheduled to face North Iredell, the top seed from the Western Piedmont Conference Wednesday night. The" Kings Mountain girls, fifth seed from the SWC *Willyy, R-S Central # play top-seeded Thursday at 5 p.m. The Moun- tainettes lost both games to the SWC champions during the regular season. R-S Central is the top seeded team in the tournament because it won the regular season SWC championship. North Gaston, which came on strong to win the SWC tourney, is seeded number two. The winners there will advance to the state tournament at Elon College (girls) and the Greensboro Coliseum (boys) March 23-24. Industrial Tournament Is Underway The ‘Kings Mountain In- dustrial League basketball tour- nament is underway this week at the Kings Mountain Communi- ty Center. Action got underway Wednes- day night with Eaton playing Norick Brothers and Foote Mineral facing Anvil Knit. Action continues Friday at 6 p.m. with Spectrum meeting the winner of the Eaton-Norick game, and at 7 p.m. with Com- mercial Shearing playing the winner of the Foote-Anvil game. Losers of those two games will play for the third place trophy Saturday at 5 p.m. and the win- ners of those games will play at 6 p.m. Saturday for the champion- ship. Deacons, Blue Devils, Cars Win The Deacons, Blue Devils and Cavaliers posted victories in 13-16 year old basketball action last wek at the Community Center, : The Deacons defeated the Wolfpack 73-68 as David Lawson scored 22 points and Junior Melton added 21. Andrea Littlejohn scored 38 and Reginal Goode 13 for the Wolfpack. The Blue Devils edged the Tar Heels 60-56. Tim Sanders scored 18 points and Sidney Brown 15 for the winners. Brian Adams scored 24 points and Craig Queen added 14 10 lead the Cavaliers to a 70-66 win over the Terps. Ronnie Carroll scored 23 points and Walter Lewis added 19 for the Terps. In action last Tuesday, the Rockets edged the Bulis 51-50 and the Lakers outscored the 76ers 69-60. John Hill scored 16 points and Bernard. Thompson 14 to lead the Rocket victory and Julius Pagan scored 17 and Anthony Hillman 14 for the Bulls. Brent Bagwell’s 20 points and 15 by Jamie Surratte led the I akers over the 76ers. Greg Young scored 33 points and "Tony Williams 10 for the 76ers. On Thursday, the Bucks edg- ed the Spurs 60-58 and the Celtics defeated the Trail Blazers 84-80 in overtime. Derik Jordan, Jerry Jordan and Sidney Brown scored 12 points each to lead the Bucks. Eric Marble scored 23 and Targe Wofford 12 for the Spurs. Ronnie Frazier scored 30 points and Don Adams and Ted- dy Wilson added 22 each to lead the Celtics over the Trail Blazers. Dean Logan scored 32 and John Pettis 29 for the losers.
