RTO RR YT sdand ithe Demo Precinct Meetings Set No. 4 Township Democrats, as well as Democrats state-wide, will hold Precinct meetings Thursday, March 1, at 8 p.m. at the various polling places located throughout North Carolina. In Kings Mountain the Precinct meetings will be held at Bethware School, where Myers Hambright, chairman, will preside, assisted by Glenn Hicks, first vice chairman; at Grover Fire Station where Chairman Dean Westmoreland will preside, assisted by Martha Byers; at East Kings Mountain, The Community Center, where vice chairman Bill Cashion will preside in the absence of Hugh Early, who is ill; and West Kings Mountain, The Armory, where Willard Boyles will preside, assisted by Mrs. Willie Marable. Chairman Robert Borders, assisted by Marvin Hutchins, will conduct the Waco meeting in Waco. Democrats will elect delegates to the county-wide convention to be held April 14th at 11 a.m. at the Cleveland County Historical Museum in Shelby and will also discuss resolutions, national convention delegates, and other business. To be elected from the county are two members to serve on the 10th Congressional Executive Committee, two to serve on the 27th B Judicial District Ex- ecutive Committee, two members to serve on the 40th State Senatorial Executive Com- mittee and two members to serve on the 40th House of Represen- tatives Executive Committee. Committee To Meet The newly-appointed cemetery committee which will study ways to enlarge Mountain Rest Cemetery will hold its first meeting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Governmental Services Facilities Center. : Members of the commitiee are J. Ollie Harris, George Mauney. Jonas Bridges, Corbet Nicholson, Curt Gattney. Ben- nett Masters, Lib Stewart. Rev. Kenneth Looney and Mrs. W.D. Werner. Spencer, who became pastor of Piedmont RADIO DEVOTIONS Rev. Bill Tyson, pastor of Boyce Memorial A .R.P. Church, will lead the morning devotions next week at 9 a.m. daily on Radio Station WKMT. The pro- gram is sponsored by WKMT Kings Mountain Ministerial Association. Baptist Church Wednesday, will lead a three-day revival at the church Friday through Sunday. Services are scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. and at 11 a.m. Sunday. To 29.99 Dresses res 1.39.9 7.00 9.00 11.00 SHAWN WEBSTER Webster National Winner The United States Achieve- ment Academy announced this week that Shawn Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Webster and granddaughter of Mrs. Isabell Hamrick of Shelby and Mr. and Mrs. James Webster of Kings Mountain, has been named a 1984 United States National Award winner in science. This award is a prestigious honor very few students ever hope to attain. The Academy recognizes less than ten percent of all American high school students. The Academy selects USAA winners upon the exclusive recommendations of teachers, coaches, counselors or other school sponsors and upon the standards of selection of set forth by the Academy. The criteria for selection are a student’s academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, en- thusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship attitude and cooperative spirit, depen- dability and recommendation from teacher or director. Leadership Workshop Planned An area-wide Senior Adult Leadership Workshop will be held on Wed., March 21, from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the con- ference room of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association office in Shelby. | The workshop is jointly spon- sored by the Kings Mountain Baptist Association and the Department of Aging, is planned for pastors, church staff and lay persons who are involved with or anticipate working with senior adults in ‘the church. Lunch will be served at cost of $4.25. Reservations may be made by calling the associational office at 482-3472. G-W Ensemble To Take Tour William A. McSwain, son of Mrs. Margaret B. McSwain of Kings Mountain, is a member of the Gardner-Webb Chorus Ensemble which will go on its annual spring tour March 2-7. Appearances are scheduled in Mt. Airy, Raleigh, Charlotte, Arlington, Va., Alexandria, Va., and Frederick, Md. The home concert of the tour- ing choir will be on Tues., Mar. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Dover Chapel on the G-W campus.
