BRIDGES Accepts New Position In Gastonia Bonnie Stroup Bridges has assumed her new position of of- fice manager for Region Toyota, Inc. of Gastonia at 420 West Franklin Avenue, Gastonia. She was formerly employed by Kings Mountain Home Federal Savings and Loan Association where she worked ten years prior to becoming manager of the Bessemer City Branch for five years. Looney for supper and a flower and card were brought to the table; Satur- day a corsage of red carnations was delivered to her home; Sun- day ended the week with the bulletin board in the church decorated with a poem and red and white hearts with “Pastor’s Wife Appreciation Week, We Love You” on it. The flowers in the sanctuary were in her honor and a love gift of money was given to her also. Airman Caldwell Assigned To Keesler Air Base stepson of Hazel C. Caldwell of 120 S. Inman Ave., Bessemer Ci- ty, N.C., has been assigned to Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who com- plete basic training earn credits towad an associate degree in ap- plied science through the Com-. | munity College of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the ad- ministration field. He is a 1981 graduate of Bessemer High School, Bessemer City. Byars Member Of “Pine”’ Air Force Capt. Queenie A. Byars, daughter of Cleveland and Ruby Mackey of 420 Belvedere Circle, Kings Moun- tain, N.C., has participated in Ahuas Tara (Big Pine) II, an ex- ercise involving U.S. and Latin American forces in Honduras. According to Pentagon of- ficials, the exercise tested plans and procedures for operations, command and control of joint operations with the armed forces of nations in the Caribbean basin and Central America. The exer- cise also demonstrated the deployment and sustainment capability of U.S. forces to un- familiar terrain. Big Pine II is the latest in a series of combined exercises that began in 1965. Byars is deputy chief of public affairs with the 31st Tactical Training Wing at Homestead Air Force Base, Fla. She is a 1977 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. . Her husband, Air Force Capt. Napoleon B. Byars, is the son of Doris H. Byars of 9503 Wingsong Drive, Charlotte, N.C.
