rs wi Photo Seminar Scheduled Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia will sponsor a photography seminar Sat., Apr. 28 from 2-5 p.m. The seminar, sponsored by the Museum’s Camera Club, is free and open tot he public. Par- ticipants should bring cameras, lenses, film and: other photo equipment. This will be a work- ing type seminar instead of a lec- ture. Gordon Schenck of Charlotte, a profesional architectural photographer, will lead the ses- sion. He has had photos publish- ed internationally in leading ar- chitectural magazines. His hob- by is outdoor and nature photography. Schenck will. show how to combine the elements of ar- chitectural © and natural photographic worlds to create photographs of outstanding composition, color arrangement, tonal quality and interpretation. His demonstrations will enable beginning and. amateur photographers to improve their photography around their house, yard, garden and community. Insurance Women Meet The Gaston County Associa- tion of Insurance Women met April 10 at Public Service Com- pany in Gastonia. After a fashion show was presented by Matthews-Belk, a catered dinner prepared by Mrs. Lula Smith, was served. Guest of honor was Carolyn Rhodes, state president. Myra Weaver of Watson Insurance Company received her Certified Professional Insurance Woman designation. Plans for the state convention May 18-20 in Asheville were an- inounced. Bresciano, son of Georgia L. Black of Kings Mountain, was graduated from the Navy’s Hospital Corps School. During the ten-week course at Naval School of Health and Sciences, San Diego, students received instruction on the basic medical procedures used by hospital copsmen as they assist Navy doctors and nurses. The students were introduced to all phases of military health services ‘including x-ray technology, laboratory analysis, general practice and surgery. Lane Enlists In Air Force Jeffrey R. Lane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Lane of 1301 Merrimont Drive, Kings Mountain, has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. A 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Airman Lane enlisted on March 23 and departed the same day for Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, where he will undergo six weeks of basic train- ing. After completing basic, Lane will receive training in the General Aptitude career field, according to Sgt. Isenhour, Air Force recruiter in Gastonia. Karen Barrett Completes Course Pvt. Karen E. Barrett, daughter of Kenneth B. and Carolyn A. Barrett of 1001 S. 11th Street, Bessemer City, has completed an Army administra- tion course at Fort Jackson, S.C. Students were trained in the preparation of military records and forms. Instruction was also given in fundamentals of the Ar- my filing system, typing and operation of office machines.
