Field Day!
All fifth graders in the
Kings Mountain School
District had a fun day out of
the classroom Friday before
school dismissed for the
Easter holidays. They com-
peted in Field Day activities
at John Gamble Stadium on
the Kings Mountain High
School campus. Elementary
schools physical education
teachers were in charge of
the event. In the photos here,
students are shown in
various activities. In top

Is Scheduled

fifth Sunday night singing this
Sunday evening, April 29, at 7
p.m.
Special singers for this singing
is the Watson Family of
Gastonia, along with local
singers from the church.
The public is invited to attend
this singing. Rev. Eugene Land
is pastor.
WKMT DEVOTIONS
Rev. Dewey Smith, pastor of
St. Paul’s United Methodist
Church, will lead morning devo-
tions each weekday morning
next week at 9 a.m. on radio sta-
tion WKMT. The program is
sponsored by WKMT and the
Kings Mountain Ministerial
Association.
Styles Graduates
Curtis S. Styles, Cleveland
County agricultural agent, has
CURTIS STYLES
graduted from the North
Carolina Agricultural
Extension’s Executive Institute.
Styles was one of 25 students
who attended 18 days of instruc-
tion over a six-month period.
Along with classwork, students
put much time on team case
studies and individual work in
home counties.
“The Institute is a leadership
program for outstanding county
agents,” said Dr. Chester D.
Black, state extension director.
“It focuses on developing those
concepts, skills and values that
extension workers must possess
to provide dynamic and effective
management and program
leadership.”
Styles joined the Cleveland
County extension staff in 1972.
He was named young extension
agent in the state in 1977.

such as cars. The mayor said the
city “has a terrible time disposing
of old auto tires which become
beds for rodents and
mosquitoes.” He called for the
community’s cooperation again
this year in a “genuine spring
cleaning effort.“

concur with the clean up effort
and are appreciative of all the
citizen cooperation in past years.
