CHARLIE BENTON Bentons Honored Sunday On 60th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Benton of Grover celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon, April 1st at a recep- tion in the Fellowship Hall of Bethany Baptist Church. Hosts were the couple’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Atkins of Grover, their daughter, Ms. Alice Wilkes of Shelby and their son and daughter<in-Jaw, Mr. and Mrs. Odell Benton of Kings Moun- tain, and grandchildren. The refreshment table was covered with white satin and lace and centered with a silver candelabrum filled with yellow snapdragons, daisies, mums and baby’s breath. The three tiered anniversary cake was decorated in yellow and topped with the numberal 60. Party pickups were served from silver appointments. Ms. Kathryn Griggs opened and displayed gifts. Assisting in serving were Mrs. James Sanders, Mrs. Dwight Chapman, Mrs. Ralph Goforth and Miss Jan Goforth. Mrs. George Oates invited - guests to register. Friends and relatives called between 2 and 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Benton have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rev. James Sanders, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, said goodbyes. Harris Couple Wed Thursday In Anderson, S.C. Boulevard Baptist Church of Anderson,S. C. provided the set- ting Thursday for the wedding of Miss Carol Marguerite Todd and Gene Douglas Harris. The couple pledged vows of the doublering ceremony before the Rev. Lee Prince. Claire Irene Todd was the bride’s maid of honor and Gene Eural Harris was his son’s best man. The bride’s father hosted the wedding reception in Tanglewood Apartment’s Clubhouse. After a wedding trip to Jekyll Island,Ga.the newlyweds are at home at 27-B Tanglewood Apartments,Anderson,South Carolina. The bride is the daughter of John C. Todd of Kingstree,S.C. and the late Mrs. June S. Todd. She holds an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Winthrop Col- lege and a Masters degree in Elementary Education from . District Clemson University. = She is employed by Anderson School S as a kindergarten teacher.She is the granddaughter of the late Mr.and Mrs.Jere T. Todd and the late Mr.and Mrs. Henry C. Sanford. Mr. and Mrs.Gene Ural Har- ris of Kings Mountain are parents. of the bridegroom. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and holds an undergraduate degree in speech and language pathology from Appalachian State University where he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He is currently work- ing on his Master’sdegree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. He is employed by Anderson School District 5 as speech and language pathologist and serves as assistant baseball coach at T.L.Hanna High School. Rhynes Married Sunday Victoria Loftin Boyd and Randy Scott Rhyne, both of Kings Mountain, were married Sunday at 2 .m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Bessemer City. The Rev.
