Shirley Austin, elementary schools music teacher, was musical director, Mrs. Ellen Grant was in charge of makeup and Jan Welborn and Dru White did the special art work. The operetta was presented in honor of West second grade teacher Dorcas White, who is retiring this year after 37 years as a school teacher. She directed her class’s presentation of the same operetta in 1944, her first year as a teacher. Teacher sponsors were Mrs. White, Jodi McDaniel, Julia Plonk, Suzie Roberts and Janet Suber. Teacher aides assisting the classroom teachers were Carolyn Harris, Frances Yar- borough, Jane Crawford, Marilyn Rhyne and Sarah Adams. Heralds were Allison Kiser and Jody Putnam. Members of the wedding party were Nikki Owensby, Maid of Honor; Stewart Marlowe, Best Man; Sloan Goforth, Ring -Bearer; Elizabeth Dilling, Flower Girl; Jamey Smith, Jack-In-The- Pulpit; John Sizemore, Johnny; and Gray Wooten, Lily. Jada Brown and Daniel Marlowe sang “I Love You Tru- ly.” Other members of the kindergarten, first and second grades were members of the choirs. Mrs. White’s second graders were roses, Mrs. McDaniel’s second graders were violets, some members of all se- cond grades were sunflowers, Mrs. Plonk’s first graders were white and yellow daisies, Mrs. Suber’s kindergarten students were forget-me-gots, Mrs. Plonk’s first graders were bluebells, and Miss Roberts’ first graders were dandelions and cal- ored tulips. Heather Ellis was the Rainbow Fairy.
