Helms. Helms is seeking re-
election and is being challenged
by Republican George Wimbish.
On the Democratic ticket are
Governor James B. Hunt, Har-
rill Jones and Tom Allred.
This year’s presidential ballot
is a long one with eight
Democrats seeking the nomina-
tion, although several of them
have already bowed out of the
race. On North Carolina’s ballot
will be Ernest F. Hollings, Jesse
Jackson, George McGovern,
Walter F. Mondale, Reubin
Askew, Alan Cranston, John
Glenn and Gary Hart. There is
also a place to mark no
preference.’

Running for the one Supreme
Court associate justice seat are

ner of East Gold and York Road
