> § Awards Banquet Scheduled The 24th annual Safety Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the North Carolina Department of Labor, will be held Monday, May 14th, at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Shelby. Schiele Giveaway Is Sunday The Schiele Museum Wild Foods Festival or The Great Gaston Grub-Grabbers and Gastronomic Gourmet Giveaway is slated for Mother’s Day, Sunday, from 1 until 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Schiele Museum of Natural History across from the Public Library on Garrison Boulevard. Admission is free and persons will have a chance to sample many different dishes from edi- ble wild plants. There is an opportunity to sample more than 40 different menu items, ranging from wild teas and a huge tossed salad to untamed jams and jellies. Many main course dishes will be served such as Violet Leaf Quiche or Persimmon Cake with Persim- mon Icing. In addition to roam- ing through the grounds tasting and learning, you can watch a wild banquet being served to 36 paying guests. This unique din- ner, served by tuxedoed waiters to the accompaniment of a string quartet, will consist of seven courses of gourmet dishes, all gathered from the wild. Recipes and tee shirts will be for sale, and competition for the best or largest or most ridiculous garden party hat. It will be a great afternoon for fun and new taste experiences. McGill To Speak To Lions “John Knox McGill, an at- torney for the law firm of Garland and Alala of Gastonia, was the program speaker at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Kings Mountain Lions Club at the Holiday Inn.
