REUNION WAS GALA GET-TO-GETHER- Virginia Bird Crawford, Wriston Carpenter of California, Pauline Neisler Brewer, U.S. Navy Admiral retired, and Captain W.R. 4-H Workshop Slated The 1984 4-H Marine En- vironment Workshop has been scheduled August 5-10 to give teenagers an opportunity to learn about marine resources, ecological marine problems and Margo Green ECU Graduate Margo Anita Green, daughter of Mrs. Francis Green of Route 4, Kings Mountain, received her M.A. Degree in Psychology dur- ing commencement exercises at East Carolina University on May 5S. Court of Appeals Judge S. Gerald Arnold was the com- mencement speaker. Degrees were conferred on 2,360 students. marine-elated careers. The summer workshop will be ‘held at the Bogue Banks Marine Resources Center with lodging and other activities at Mitchell 4-H Camp, Swansboro. Interested teenagers, ages 14-18, are eligible to attend ac- cordir g to Florence M. Brooks, Extension Agent, 4-H. Those who have attended previous marine environment workshops are not eligible. The workshop program in- cludes marsh habitat studies, ocean beach investigations, oceanographic activities, snorkeling, boat trips, laboratory experiences and aquarium studies. The workshop is sponsored by 1984 TOYOTA SUPRA Brewer of Henderson all talk over old times at KMHS during a reunion Friday night at Holi- day Inn. the North Carolina Resources Center, the N.C. Sea Grant Pro- gram and the 4-H organization, although attendance is not limited to 4-H members. The cost for the workshop, in- cluding meals, lodging, in- surance, equipment fees and field trips, is $125.00. Par- ticipants must arrange their own transportation, but names and addresses of other applicants are furnished if carpoolers are need- ed. Applications can be obtained by calling or writing to 4-H Ex- tension Office, 130 South Post Road, Shelby, North Carolina 28150-6297 or 482-4365. The deadline for applications is June 28, 1984. 1984 MAZDA RX7 Recital Sunday By Students Sunday, May 27th is the date set for the recital given by the students of Mrs. Becky Bumgardner. The recital will be at 2:30 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Selections by Beethoven, Kabalevsky, Nevin, Bastien and Mendelssohn will be performed. Familiar titles to be performed include: “Still” by Lionel Richie, “Memory” from the Broadway Musical “Cats”, and “Music Box Dancer” by Frank Mills. Amy Mayes will perform one of her contest selec- tions, “Frenzy” by Applebaum. Students participating are: Aaron and Laura Allen, Chuck Bridges, Kendra Cash, Melissa Dellinger, Mandi Falls, Patrick Hamrick, Holly Harmon, Jac- queline Harmon, Edie Hicks, Sharon and Tracey Horton, Carolyn and Shellene Hunts- inger, Amy Mayes, Lara Owensby, Deia Parker, Holly Paul, Johnna Patterson, Nicole Patterson, Karen Penner, Cristi Putnam, Carla Ramsey, Jenny Reid, Kim Scism and Laura Southards. The public is invited to attend. Class Reunion Planned The Kings Mountain High School Class of 1964 will hold its 20th year reunion Sat., June 16. Class members will enjoy a picnic at 11 a.m. at Lake Mon- tonio and will tour Central and Kings Mountain Senior High schools during the afternoon. The reunion will be held at 8 p.m. at American Legion Post 155.
