Board
Denies
Request
From Page 2-A
of a mobile home.
City Attorney George
Thomasson told the board the
Fallses do not have adequate
property space, 20,000 square
feet, to meet the city’s other re-
quirements and rezoning would
be in violation of city codes.
Their 65 x 123 foot property is
now zoned residential 8.
Thomasson said - the codes
specify the minimum size lot
should not be less than 20,000
feet and average width of 100
feet.
Mr. Falls says there is no ob-
jection from neighbors to the
rezoning.
Members of the city’s plann-
ing and zoning board voted
recently to deny the request and
offered the suggestion that the
Fallses appeal to the Board of
Adjustment of which D.E. Tate
is chairman.
In other business, the board
adopted a resolution of apprecia-
tion to members of the city
cemetery committee and
authorized advertising for bids
for one street sweeper for the
Street Department. The privilege
license schedule was also
adopted and is the same schedule
that has applied this year.
Following a brief recess for an
executive session, Mayor John
Moss announced that the board
had voted unanimously to “re-
quest the Cleveland County
district attorney to assist them in
a civil action with the purpose of
enforcing the general statutes of
N.C.” He did not elaborate. The
city attorney met with the com-'
