OBITURRIES JAMES LOGAN Funeral services for James Logan, 31, of Route 4, who died Saturday morning in Shelby, will be conducted Thursday after- noon at 4 p.m. from St. Peters Baptist Church of Graver, inter- ment following in the church cemetery. Mr. Logan was a Cleveland County native, son of John and Edna Petty Logan of Kings Mountain who survive. Also sur- viving are his grandmother, Ruth Logan of Kings Mountain; . a brother, John Larry Logan of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Loretta Wardell of Shelby, Louise Edna Fullenwider of Newark, N.J., and Linda Kilgore of Kings Mountain. JOHN CHILDERS Funeral services for John William Childers, 47, of 1502 Northwood Drive, were con- ducted Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney, S.C. by Rev. Bobby Earls and Rev. John Goode, interment follow- ing in Goucher Church Cemetery in Gaffney, S.C. Mr. Childers died Monday. He was an employee of Wix Filters of Gastonia. : Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia G. Childers; his mother, Sarah Childers of Gaffney, S.C.; two daughters, Sarah E. Childers of the home, and Angela Hopper of Kings Mountain; a step- daughter, Candy R. Ramsey of the home; a stepson, Christopher Ramsey of the home; a sister, Joyce Childers of Gaffney, S.C. and two grandchildren. SARAH BROWN Graveside services for Sarah Rebecca Brown, infant daughter of Michael and Susan Owens Brown, of Route 1, Grover,were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Mountain Rest Cemetery. Rev.J. C. Goare, pastor of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, officiated. City Attorney George Thomasson told the board the Fallses do not have adequate property space, 20,000 square feet, to meet the city’s other re- quirements and rezoning would be in violation of city codes. Their 65 x 123 foot property is now zoned residential 8. Thomasson said - the codes specify the minimum size lot should not be less than 20,000 feet and average width of 100 feet. Mr. Falls says there is no ob- jection from neighbors to the rezoning. Members of the city’s plann- ing and zoning board voted recently to deny the request and offered the suggestion that the Fallses appeal to the Board of Adjustment of which D.E. Tate is chairman. In other business, the board adopted a resolution of apprecia- tion to members of the city cemetery committee and authorized advertising for bids for one street sweeper for the Street Department. The privilege license schedule was also adopted and is the same schedule that has applied this year. Following a brief recess for an executive session, Mayor John Moss announced that the board had voted unanimously to “re- quest the Cleveland County district attorney to assist them in a civil action with the purpose of enforcing the general statutes of N.C.” He did not elaborate. FLOYD O, MORRIS Graveside services for Floyd Orville Morris, 73, of 303 Waco Road, who died Thursday in the Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conducted Saturday morn- ing at 11 o'clock from Mountain Rest Cemetery by Rev.Eric Faust. Mr. Morris died Thursday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital at Shelby. He was the son of the late William Albert and Georgia Hord Morris and was a retired employee of Bennett Brick and Tile Company and a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was married to the former Adele Rollins, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Floyd E. Mor- ris of Vincentown, N. J., four Linda Davis of ‘Halifax, Mass., Judy Plonk of Winston Salem, Jane Dedmon of Cherryville and Sylvia Neisler of Kings Mountain; one brother, George Albert Morris of Jacksonville,Fla.,one sister, Maggie Rushing of Waycross, Ga. and 15 grandchildren. ED REYNOLDS Funeral services for Edward Reynolds, 87, of Route 4, who died Thursday in Kings Moun- tain Hospital, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.from El Bethel United Methodist Church of which he was a member. Rev. Sidney Lanier, Rev. Michael Swofford and Dr. Bob- by Gantt officiated at the rites and interment was in the church cemetery. A native of Cherokee County, he was a retired farmer and a member of the American Legion in Kings Mountain.He was an honorary member of the Board of El Bethel United Methodist Church. His parents were the late Albert and Mattie Gunthorpe Reynolds. His first wife was the late Wilma Adair Reynolds and his second wife,the late Josephine Camp Reynolds. Survivors include a son, Alfred Reynolds of Casar; three daughters, Myrtle Lee Green of Hickory, Edna Gantt of Shelby and Corrine Swofford of Kings Mountain; a stepson, Lewis Hamrick of Bennettsville,S.C., a stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul Neal of Dallas,Ga., a brother, Clyde Reynolds of Cherryville; a sister, Marie Reynolds of Gaffney,S.C.,32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The family has designated memorials to the EI Bethel Church Building Fund. JO ANN COBB Funeral services for Jo Ann Blanton Cobb, 47, of 114 Waco Road, were conducted Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Masters Funeral Home by Rev. F. Dick Whitener, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Cobb died Wednesday in Kings Mountain Hospital after long illness.
