Summitt of Kings Mountain, was among North Carolina seventh graders who participated in Duke University’s fourth an- nual search for mathematically and verbally brilliant students. The students were honored at a ceremony on the Duke campus May 13th. The students invited to the ceremony had obtained scores on at least one of the three sections of the Scholastic Ap- titude Test which were equal to or greater than the average score obtained by college bound high school seniors. These capable seventh graders or 12 year olds took the college level SAT as participants in Duke’s Talent Identification Program (TIP). Program Planned The Cleveland County Medical Society, Cleveland Memorial Hospital and the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a pro- gram for eating establishments personnel on the correct pro- cedure for treating choking vic- tims. The free program will be held in the auditorium of Cleveland Memorial Hospital at 7 p.m. on June 26 and June 28. The train- ing sessions will be held by Dr. Carl Naman and Dr. Tom Spilker.
