July 5. 1984 3 Army Recruiters Offer Enlistment Bonuses Charlotte, N.C.-Army recruiters have been authorized to offer advance promotions, worth $95.00 extra per month, and enlistment bonuses of up to $8,000 for certain skills. “Both of these programs,” said Lt. Col. James J. Mills, com- mander of the Army’s Charlotte Recruiting Battalion, “will be available to qualified high school diploma graduates who score in the top half of the Armed Forces Qualification Test.” ? TONI HUNTER Hunter Assigned Airman Toni E. Hunter, daughter of Alfred T. and Mary E. Hunter of Rural Route 2, Bessemer City, has been assigned to Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who com- plete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Mills is responsible for Regular Army and Army Reserve recruiting in western North Carolina and four coun- ties in South Carolina. “Advance promotion to the pay grade of Private E-2 is available to young men and women who sign an Army con- tract up through September 30th,” said Mills. “These new soldiers also have the option of going directly into the Regular Army or into the Delayed Entry Program, which allows them up to 365 days after enlistment to report for active duty.” “Military occupational specialties in the $8,000 enlist- ment bonus package are in the electronic warfare and cryp- tological operations fields,” noted Mills, “while an even dozen military specialties have been made available to receive bonuses of $5,000 to $8,000. A four year enlistment in the Regular Army, and in a bonus field, is required.” “Our recruiters can also offer a $4,000 bonus for a three year plus training enlistment into selected COHORT units,” in- dicated Mills. “A COHORT unit is one where a group of recruits train together and are then deployed-ither overseas or in the United States-as a unit.” - “The introduction of the ad- vanced promotion program and expansion of the enlistment bonus packages is in addition to some existing programs,” said Mills. “The Army can also offer qualified young men and women the Army College Fund, where the soldier can accumulate up to $20,100 for his or her education and a two year option which would be worth up to $15,200 of College Fund money. There’s also training in a particular skill and, in many cases, a guaranteed station or unit of choice before enlistment. More specific infor- mation can be obtained by call- ing any of our recruiting stations in your local area.” LINEBERGER’S KILLDEER FARM PEACHES Large Peaches - Already Picked. . . . $8.00 Per Bushel Medium Peaches - Already Picked . .%6.00 Per Bushel Pick Your Own - Any Size ..........%6.00 Per Bushel (Please bring your own take home containers for peaches for quantities of V2 bu. or larger) LOCATIONS: KILDEER FARM Goforth Road, Kings Mountain - Phone 739-6602 On Goforth Road, 1 mile off Hwy. 216, 5 miles north of Kings Mountain.
