Christian Women To Meet A Beach Party is the theme for the Shelby Christian Women’s Club luncheon to be held on Thursday, August 16 at 12 o’clock at the Elk’s Club. Mardelle Shelby will give everyone a glimpse of her beautiful shell collection. The guest soloist will be. Marianne Miller with her guitar. Joyce Stephens of Seymour, "Tennessee, wife of an airline pilot and the mother of five children (two “home-grown” and three “grafted”), will be the guest speaker. Joyce is a freelance writer and a nurse who also en- joys camping and horticulture. 1 She will be giving an inspira- tional talk. : Christian Women’s Club is an Homecoming On Sunday Chestnut Ridge Baptist “Church will hold Homecoming Day Sunday. = Rev. Mitchell Pruitt will fill the pulpit at the 11 o’clock mor- ning worship hour. A covered dish luncheon will be served at the noon hour. “The Disciples” will be the featured group for the afternoon song service. CHURCH BENEFIT East Kings Mountain Church of God will sponsor a yard sale for church benefit Saturday across from the Radio Station WKMT beginning at 9 a.m. BAKE SALE East Kings Mountain Church of God will sponsor a bake sale Saturday in front of Harris Teeter Super Market beginning at 9 am. All proceeds will benefit the church. Beth Celebrates Birthday Beth Bumgardner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bumgardner of Kings Mountain, celebrated his first birthday with fish fry at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cashion. A Teddy Bear birthday cake was cut and served with all the trimmings. Beth is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Gene Bumgardner and great- ‘granddaughter of Mrs. Craig ~ Falls, all of Kings Mountain. Family members attending her party also included her brother, Mikey Bumgardner. international organization with over 2200 clubs throughout the United States and Canada and over 70 clubs abroad. It is non- denominational. A cordial in- vitation is given to all women, and there is a special welcome to all newcomers to this area. A free nursery is held for pre- school children of mothers atten- ding the luncheon at the Central United Methodist Church. Mothers are asked to bring a bag lunch for their children and juice and cookies will be served. Reservations must be made along with the luncheon reserva- tion.
