DAVIDSON MARIE DAVIDSON Double graveside services for the brother and sister-in-law of Hubert Davidson of Kings Mountain will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Moun- tain Rest Cemetery with Rev. William Tyson, pastor of Boyce Memorial ARP Church, to of- ficiate at the rites. Thaddeus Sylvester Davidson, 88, of Palo Alto, California, died Saturday in Palo Alto. He was a native of York County, S.C. and was a retired commercial artist. He was son of the late John T. and Martha Bolin Davidson. He was a veteran of World War I. Mrs. Marie Penney Davidson, 85, died Sunday in Palo Alto, California. She was a native of Pacolet, S.C. She was daughter of the late Melvin and Eva Frances Penney. Surviving the couple, in addi- tion to Mr. Davidson’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Davidson of Kings Mountain, are one son, Dr. John Davidson of Belmont, Califor- nia; one daughter, Miss Lucille Davidson of Korea, and six grandchildren. Mrs. Davidson is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Aileen Finstrom of Greenville, S.C. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. REV. CHARLES FARRIS Funeral services for Rev. Charles Lee Farris, 82, of Route 4, who died Thursday in the Kings Mountain Convalescent Center, were conducted Satur- day afternoon at 3 p.m. from Cherokee Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Rev. Kelly Dixon and Rev. George Leigh officiated at the rites and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Farris was a retired minister, Cleveland County native and son of the late John and Mary Patterson Farris. He was married to Annie Dover Farris. : Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Darwin W. Fas of Kings Mountain, arles Fasris of Mooresville ‘and Gene Farris of La Farge, Wisc., one sister, Mrs. Ethel Childers of Kings Mountain, nine grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. BERTHA WRIGHT Graveside services for Bertha Moss Wright, 55, of Route 1, Shelby, who died Tuesday morn- ing in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Cleveland Memorial Park by the Rev. Pressley Stutts and Rev. C.O. Greene. Mrs. Wright, wife of Jesse Burton Wright, Jr., was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Clarence Beatty and Minnie Hutchins Moss. She was an employee of Shelby Mill Co. where she was a winder and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one son, Steve G. Wright of Route 1, Shelby; one daughter, Diana K. Putnam of Route 1, Shelby; four brothers, Robert Moss of Kings Moun- tain, Lawrence L. Moss of Shelby, Sylvannus Moss of Dallas and Grover Moss of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Kate Smith of Shelby, Blair Lankford of Cherryville and Ida Mae Gainey of Tucson, Ariz., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. HUBERT HOLMES Funeral services for Herbert Holmes, 80, of York, England, were conducted Thursday from St. Mark’s Methodist Church of which he was a member. He died suddenly August 10th. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Holmes; his son, Ray Holmes, and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Holmes, of Denver, formerly of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Christopher Holmes and Lind- say Holmes. Mr. Holmes was a retired grocer. Ray Holmes is in England for the funeral rites. LEIGH CAROLINE BEAM Graveside services for Leigh Caroline Beam, infant daughter of Judy Henderson and Donald B. Beam, Jr. of 5603 Arrowood Drive, Gastonia, were held Tues- day afternoon at 4 p.m. from Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. James Capps. The child died Friday in Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Surviving, in addition to the parents, are a brother, William Brinkley Beam of the home; his grandparents, Mrs. S. and Donald B. Beam, Sr. of Kings Mountain, Helen H. Bailey of Lincolnton, William L. Hender- son of Cherryville and Grace K. Sellers of Kings Mountain. Carothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ARCHIE BURTON Funeral services for Archie Burton, 72, of 316 River St. in High Shoals, brother of Jessie Burton, Juanita Blanton ‘and Bessie Hamm of Kings Moun- tain, were held Sunday at 3 pm. / from Salem Baptist Church by Rev. Charles Cranford, inter- ment following in the church cemetery. Mr. Burton died Friday morn- ing in Lincoln County Hospital. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, he was retired from Southern Gear Works and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Martin and Agnes Bridges Burton. Also surviving are his wife, Susan Bridges Burton, of the home; a daughter, Mabel Hedgepath of Lincolnton; brother, Ira Burton of Cher- ryville; and sister, Vergie An- thony of Cherryville; three grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Thornburg Visits KM Superior Court Judge Lacey Thornburg of Sylva was in Kings Mountain and the county Wednesday pumping hands in his bid for Attorney General of North Carolina. Thornburg is the Democratic candidate. Mr. Thornburg attended the KM District Schools breakfast Wednesday morning at Kings Mountain Senior High School and visited in the business district before campaigning in other areas of Cleveland Coun- ty.
