Last year, she averaged eight points ) and 6.5 assists per game in leading the KM ladies to a 12-8 ) record and fourth place in the SWC, and served as team cap- tain. ) Ingram won the Moutainettes’ ) free throw shooting award for ) compiling the best free throw ) percentage (73) during all prac- tice sessions and games. She also ) was a U.S. National Award win- ) ner in basketball through the U.S. National Achievement pro- ‘gram. In addition to standing out on the basketball court, Ingram was also the only female on the KMHS cross country team, which won all but one of its regular season meets and finish- ed second to R-S Central in the SWC. She qualified for the Sec- tional Cross country meet in Morganton. ) ) ) ) ) ) RII RII II ARI IAS IANS AIS NANA NI INI NII INI INS CONCORD, N.C. - Concord Speedway will host its regular weekly racing program this Fri- day and Saturday nights, but plans are already set for the Aug. 31-Sept. 1 Labor Day Classic. Indentical 8 p.m. racing cards are slated this Friday and Satur- day nights, with action on tap in all four divisions, late model sportsman, semi modified, hobby and super stock. The Labor Day Classic will also feature all four divisions, with a 75-lap late model feature on Sept. 1, paying $3,000 to the winner, headlining the two nights of action. The Aug. 1 racing card will in- clude 10-lap heat races and dash for cash events for the late models and semi-modifieds, with 15-lap heats on tap for the hobby and super stock competitors. Those heat races will determine the starting grids for the feature events the following night. Along with the 75-lap late model chase, the Sept. 1 card will include a 50-lap semi modified chase, paying $2,000 to win, and 30-lap main events for the hobby and super stock drivers, each paying the winner $500. Track point leader Doug Os- teen of Woodruff, S.C. heads the list of speedway regulars ex- pected to be on hand to challenge a host of “outsiders” in the lucrative Labor Day event. Other late model feature win- ners at Concord this season have been Ernie Irvan, Hawyard Plyler, Buck Simmons, Tim Gor- Softball Tourney Set The Annual Knights of Pythias, Cherryville Invitational Softball Tournaments will be held this year, the last two weekends in August. Osteen will be gunning for his second win in a row at the 4-mile dirt track Friday night, after besting Ernie Irvan of Con- cord, N.C. in a slam-bang, con- troversial main event last Satur- day night. Attempting to start a new winning streak will be Doug Efird in the hobby class. Efird, the winner of 17 hobby features at Concord this season, carried a string of 11 consecutive wins in last Saturday’s action. Efird had to start in the rear of a very competitive field, after missing the division’s heat races, and wound up 11th in the main event. Softball Tourney Set Here A slowpitch softball tourna- ment is scheduled for August 24-25 at the Deal Street field. The one home run hitter rule will be in effect.
