Heritage Christmas Scheduled The sixth annual Heritage Christmas Exhibit sponsored by the Cleveland County Historical Museum in Shelby will open to the public on Sunday, December 2. This year will be on Poland and will include the arts, science, history, traditions, music, dress and other facets of Polish heritage including the heritage of the Polish in the United States. Past heritage exhibits have in- cluded German, British (English, Scottish, Irish), French, Spanish, and Greek. The material for the exhibits are gathered from local - people and museum and the pro- grams usually include films, dance, music, plus other ac- tivities. : Anyone interested in helping with the Polish Heritage Christmas Exhibit: or loaning material for the exhibit, please call the museum at 482-8186. Plantation Tour Set The Cleveland County Historical Museum is sponsoring a Christmas Tour to Chinqua- Penn Plantation, the home of the American Tobacco people, for museum members. The tour will leave at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, Lunch is not in- cluded and will be in Greensboro at the Picadilly Cafeteria or any place of your choosing. The tour cost is $17.00 - we have two buses going and only have a few seats left. Museum members should call the museum for reservations and for more information on museum membership at 482-8186. Robbery Reported At Hotel A second robbery within a . month occurred at Holiday Inn last Tuesday night around 8 p.m., according to Kings Moun- tain Police Department reports. John Thompson, of Cleveland, Ga., told KMPD he returned to his room from the dining area and closed the door only to see it reopened by a black man with a key and a pistol. The suspect, who fled the scene with $500 in cash, was described as six feet tall, heavy set, with medium brown skin and a goatee. He also wore a plastic shower cap. Investigating officers were Det. Richard Reynolds, Ptl. Dorothy Howell and Sgt. L.D. Beattie. Sgt. Lail In Korea Air Force Staff Sgt. Danny A. Lail, son of Jack A. and Frances H. Lail of Rt. 2, Kings Moun- tain, N.C., has arrived for duty at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea. Lail, an interior electrician with the 8th Civil Engineering Squadron, was previously assign- ed at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. He received an associate degree in 1982 from the Univer- sity of Oklahoma, Altus. Child Abuse Program Set For members of the communi- ty who are interested in preven- ting, recognizing, and respon- ding to child abuse, Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia is offering a program called “Show me where it hurts”. This free program will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 19 in Gaston Memorial’s auditorium. For more informa- tion, call 866-2253.
