Collins an- nounces the engagement of her daughter, Kim, to Ricky Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Butler. Both families are of Kings Mountain. The wedding will take place January 25, 1985 at 7 p.m. in First Wesleyan Church. Miss Collins is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Henry Lewis of Kings Mountain. Mr. Butler is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is employed by Champion Landscaping. PAUL DAVID SWINK (Veronica Lynn Styers) Swinks Exchange Vows In Gaffney Ceremony The home of Probate Judge W.R. Douglas in Gaffney, S.C. was the setting Sunday after- noon, Nov. 25th, for a 2 p.m. ex- hange of vows uniting Veronica Lynn Styers and Paul David Swink. The couple pledged their vows before Judge W.R. Douglas. Best man for the bridegroom was Bruce Hudson of Casar. Rita Tracy Oliver was honor attendant for her sister. After the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained members of the wedding party and wedding guests at a recep- tion at their home on Boyce Street in Kings Mountain. Mrs. Swink is the daughter of Becky and Richard T. Styers, Sr. of Kings Mountain. A 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior ‘High School, she is employed by Buckeye Fire Equipment Company. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Styers of Kings Moun- tain and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Bailey of Chesapeake City, Maryland. The bridegroom is the son of Lula Belle Swink and the late Lester Sherman Swink of Casar. He is employed by American Thermacote of Gastonia. Mrs. Tindall Honored Mrs. AU. Tindall celebrated her 86th birthday Saturday and was honored by her family at a birthday dinner Sunday at her home on S. Battleground Ave: Her five children, 11 grand- children, four great- grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren helped her cut a decorated birthday cake. Children of Mrs. Tindall and Ladies Night Slated White Plains Shrine Club will hold its annual ladies night ban- quet and Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 13th at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building. New officers for 1985 will be installed by Dr. D.D. Phillips of Charlotte, Oasis lustrious Potentate. The newly-formed White Plains Ladies Auxiliary will also receive its charter and install of- ficers for 1985-86 and a 1985 White Plains Shrine Queen will be crowned succeeding Anne Hord, daughter of Mrs. D.F. Hord and the late Dr. Hord, who will be a special guest of the club. A dance band will provide music during the evening. Kiwanians To Hold Yard Sale Golden K Kiwanis Club of Gastonia will sponsor a big yard sale and bake sale Sat., Dec. 15th, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the yard of the old Orthopedic Hospital on South New Hope Road, Gastonia. All proceeds are earmarked for service projects of the civic club. The public is invited to at- tend. The Panama Canal completed in 1914, was “On 86th Birthday Temple 1II- the late Mr. Tindall are Thomas Tindall and Edna Earle Tindall, both of Kings Mountain, Nathaniel Tindall of Durham, Marguerite (Mrs. - Howard) McKee of Kings Mountain, and Melba (Mrs. Blake) McWhirter of Shelby. Guests included her pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. Roland ‘Lath ‘of Shelby. Mr.Leath is in- terim: pastor of Kings Mountain Baptist Church of which Mrs. Tindall is a member. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Al Miller and Mrs. D.W. "Barker, mother of Mzs. Thomas Tindall. Ri Bowen Contest Winner Greg Bowen, son of Dean and Judy Bowen, won third place in the recent Farm-City Poster Contest. : ~ He is a fifth grader in Mrs. Larry Allen’s class at Bethware school.
