Linda's Merry Christmas cake, Friendship cake, and chocolate “goof” balls are family favorites she enjoys sharing with friends. Linda Martin Enjoys Cooking At Christmas Linda Martin likes to cook her family’s favorites and especially at Christmas. Mrs. Martin’s reputation as a good cook is well known and she shares her goodies at the holiday season. The busy homemaker is called on often year round to bake anniversary and wedding cakes, which she does, to the delight of those who sample the delicious desserts. Linda’s “Merry Christmas” cake is a favorite with friends, and tastes as good as it looks. Linda decorates a white cake in red poinsettias. Her Friendship Cake is also a family favorite as well as her “Chocolate Goof Balls” which her father-in-law always has on his Christmas wish list. When the Martin family get together on Christmas Day at Linda and Dennis’ home at 104 Marigold Street they will find plenty of good food and desserts which Linda is busy preparing this week. Lori Martin, age 12, a student at Central School, and Kevin, age 11, a student at West School, along with Dad Dennis, help out in the kitchen on occa- sion and all helped decorate the family Christmas tree and will enjoy accompanying Linda on visits to friends who will receive some of Linda’s desserts as Christmas presents. Jay Martin, Linda’s father-in- law, will find Chocolate goof balls on Christmas Day in his stocking and at the dinner table. About 20- members of the Mar- tin family, including Linda’s mother, Mrs., Oreen Sanders, and Linda’s three brothers and sister and all their families will come to the Martin home on Christmas morning to exchange presents and enjoy cooking from Linda’s kitchen. The festive din- ing room table is decorated with pretty, tasty desserts. Linda has enjoyed cooking all her life and took a cake decorating class several years ago. She is employed at Mauney Hosiery Mill. Her husband works at Foote Mineral Com- pany. The family is active in Se- cond Baptist Church. Linda is a Mary Kay salesperson in her spare time. Linda’s recipe for Friendship Cake requires a 30 day starter and she got the recipe from her mother. Her Merry Christmas Cake is a pound cake recipe and she bakes the cake in a square pan and decorates it in red and green Merry Christmas design.
