THOU SHALT pause in thy business to consider the magnitude of God’s gift of Christ to mankind. THOU SHALT remember that Mary and Joseph found no room in the inn, and remember, give Christ the chief room in your heart. THOU SHALT participate in the Christmas activities in your church. THOU SHALT be of a generous heart in answering the appeals of the needy at Christmas time. THOU SHALT take time to plan for the happiness of those outside thine own circle of family and friends. THOU SHALT enjoy, in unhurried calm, the priceless heritage of Christmas music and great Christmas art. THOU SHALT remember, with patience and understanding, all those who serve thee: the salesgirl, the postman, the delivery man, the newsboy, and all others who bear thy physical burden of the holiday season. THOU SHALT teach thy children the true message of Christmas, of the Prince of Peace, who came to show mankind a way to righteousness and happiness. BETHLEHEM BAPTIST CHURCH “SCROLL” Reflect For Moment On 1984’s Blessings Let us reflect for a moment before the book is closed on 1984. : Our world is in ferment—21 wars at last count; repressive wars in the name of freedom; religious wars in the name of. God; terrorism in the name of peace; erosion and pollution of precious resources in the name of progress; widespread hunger among have-not nations, mystified that we pay farmers not to produce food. And an ex- ploding population seemingly out of control, assassinations, terrorism, throughout the world. This on a global, national and local scale is the real world.- But what about our own personal worlds? Do you have the miracle of sight. Then every day you see many splendored things in living color. Geese flying in late fall; a golden sunset; a late autumn fishing trip to the coast. With the gift of hearing, you listen to the Christmas carols proclaiming peace on earth and You among all animal species have the miracle of speech and you have the ability to feel, to walk, to run or touch something sen- suous as a budding rose, or as rough as shag-bark hickory— what a blessing! With your sense of smell, you can experience the scent of wild honeysuckle or the fragrance of the air after a summer rain. And eaten wild fresh from the surf, you know that kings have never tasted anything finer. It’s a good time for all of us to keep these things in mind as the books are closed for 1984. Communion Service Set Trinity Episcopal Church will celebrate “Holy Communion of Christmas”, a special Christmas Eve service, Monday night at 6:30 p.m. A variety of Christmas carols will be included in the musical program plus special music by members of the congregation followed by the Service of Holy Communion, utilizing the lighting of candles. Jad As 1985 begins, our hopes are raised that peace may bless the earth. JULIE MILLER Royal Welcome Visiting Service For Newcomers The above thoughts were distributed to the employees of Bell South this week. I feel they are good for us all. In the words of a song: “We’re blessed, we're blessed, we’re blessed, we're blessed.....We don’t deserve it; but yet, we are blessed!” Truly through 84, we’ve been blessed. Rev.
