Hospital To Begin
Home Health Service
As an innovative step to com-
bat rising health care cost, Kings
Mountain Hospital has an-
nounced that home health ser-
vices are now being offered.
Kings Mountain Hospital
entered into an arrangement
with Total Care, Inc., a local
home health agency, to provide
continued care at home follow-
ing discharge from the hospital.
Total Care, Inc. specializes in
comprehensive home health ser-
vices.
Grady Howard, Ad-
ministrator of Kings Mountain
Hospital stated that home health
care, in many instances, can
shorten a patient’s length of stay.
Early discharge from the
hospital can mean significant
savings to the patients.

nursing; physical,
Under terms of this arrange-
ment, home health services are
ordered by the patient’s physi-
cian and carried out under a plan
of treatment prepared by the
physician. Services available are
speech, oc-
cupational and nutritional
therapies; home health aide; and
medical social services. In addi-
tion, medical supplies and equip-
ment are available.
Peggy Davis, President of
Total Care, Inc., expressed
pleasure with this agreement.

ted to providing the community
with high standards of medical
care at the lowest cost consistent
with quality care. Our organiza-
tion shares in this belief.”
Howard indicated that new
Medicare reimbursement regula-
tions are possibly creating earlier
patient discharges. Now, transi-
tion from the hospital to the
home setting can be, in many in-
stances be made easier, with ap-
propriate home health
assistance.
