—Obituaries- CARD OF THANKS The family of Mrs. Bessie Foster Wright wish to express our thanks to Dr. Toms, Dr. Lee, Dr. Crawley, Dr. Durham, the emergency room staff and the nurses of North Station at Kings Mountain Hospital, also Harris Funeral Home, the Kings Moun- tain Police Department and the many wonderful friends and neighbors and churches who shared our grief in the recent loss of our mother. THE BESSIE WRIGHT FAMILY A. ROY HORD, SR. Funeral services for A. Roy Hord, Sr., 76, of 3036 Marlowe Ave., Charlotte, former resident of Kings Mountain, were con- ducted Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Hawkins and Whit- tington Funeral Home Chapel in Charlotte, interment following in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Hord died Dec. 28th in Hospitality Care in Charlotte. He had retired from the Charlotte Post Office after 37 years of service and before join- ing the U.S. Postal Service taught in the Conover School System. He was long active in the Little League Program and American Legion Baseball, hav- ing coached the Enderly Park Little League team and the Jayvee Football junior varsity program at Harding High. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Frances Hord, of the home; three sons, A. Roy Hord, Jr. of Riverside, Calif.,, Robert E. Hord of Monroe and Rick Hord of Rock Hill, S.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Frye of Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. Kate ' Willis of Hendersonville; and 11 grand- children. : ; The family has designated memorials to Calvary United Methodist Church, 512 West Blvd., Charlotte, N.C. 28203. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. MAGGIE JONES Funeral services for Maggie Fulton Jones, 92, of 1040 Barnette St., who died Friday in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Tuesday after- noon at 3 p.m. from New Bynums Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Sis. Jackson, interment following in: Moun- tain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was a nate of York County, S.€: daughter of \\ne late Batch and Liza McGill "and the wife of the late John Jones. Surviving are two daughters, ME. John Ida White and Mary Tuner of Kings Mountain; a sisttr, Mary Chriswell of Kings Molin and nine grand- children, 11 great-grandchildren, and\ six great-great- grandchildren. Highland “St., Gastonia, died Wednesday in the Kings Moun- tain Hospital. She was a member, deaconess, and missionary of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, James P. Pettis; four daughters, Ida Jeter and Ollie Minor, both of Gastonia, Sara Good of the home, and Margaret Borders of Bayonne, N.J.; son, Albert L. Pettis of the home; mother, Ida J. Brown of Kings Mountain; sister, Ollie B. Wade of Bessemer City; two brothers, Robert and George Brown, both of Kings Mountain; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. VIOLA R. CURRY Funeral services for Viola R. Curry, Route 5, who died Tues- day in Gaston Memorial Hospital, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from Ebenezer Baptist Church, interment ‘following in the church cemetery. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Grace Curry of Kings Mountain and Pinkie Blair of Gastonia; son, Theodore H. JESSE E. PETERSON GROVER - Jesse E. Peterson, 81, of Park Lane, Grover, died Sunday at his home. A Cherokee County, S.C. native, he was the son of the late Jim and Susan Wilson Peterson. He was a retired textile employee and member of First Baptist Church, Grover. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Mary Wright Peterson; three sons, J.W. Peterson of Grover, Robert Peterson of Shelby and Thurman Peterson of Kings Mountain; six daughters, Pauline Turner, "Alma Bolin and Shirley ~ Philbeck, all of Grover, Annie Mae Adams, Thelma Kimball and Betty Biddix, all of Kings Mountain; seven brothers, Col- eman Peterson, Rochelle Peter- son, Clyde Peterson and Olin Peterson, all of Gaffney, S.C.; David Peterson of Ft. Mill, S.C., Theo Peterson of Sacramento, Ca., and James Peterson of Shelby; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bolton and Mrs. Ruth Owens, both of Gaffney, S.C.; 21 grand- children and 17 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were con- ducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Grover, by Dr. Bobby Gantt and Dr. Paul Sor- rells. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. MARY BARNES Funeral services for Mary Graham Barnes were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Smith and the Rev. D.C. Wilson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Barnes, 86, of 417 S. Mulberry St., Cherryville, died Thursday at home. A Lancaster, S.C., native, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Rebecca Thompson "Bell. She is survived by eight sons, Johnny Graham of Bessemer. Ci- ty, Stan and Joe Louis Graham of Passiac, N.J.; Ernest Graham of Dayton, Ohio, Conway Graham of the home, Jessie and . John Andra Barnes of Cleveland Ohio, and Joseph Barnes of Washington, D.C.; six daughters, Viola Rollins of Cher- ryville, Mary Houser of Kings Mountain, Florence Johnson of Clifton, N.J., Dorothy Starr of Passaic, N.J., Plumie Straight of Thomasville and Mary Sue Can- non of Kannapolis; a brother, Willie Giles of Kannapolis; a sister, Alice. Funeral services for Harold Rodman Falls, Sr., of 105 Pine Drive, McAdenville, Kings Mountain native, were con- ducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Woodlawn Baptist Church in Gastonia, interment following in Gaston Memorial Park. Rev. Wade McKnight and Rev. Billy R. Miller officiated at the rites. He died Dec. 21, 1984 in Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Falls was the son of the late Ira and Bertha Culbertson Falls of Kings Mountain and was educated in the KM School System. He was employed in tex- tile management by Pharr Yarns in McAdenville and was a former member of the McAden- . ville Recreation Committee and a veteran of the U.S. Navy with service during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Sanders Falls, of the home; two sons, Harold Rod- man Falls, Jr. of Gastonia and Eric Todd Falls of the home; three brothers, William Falls, James Falls, and Doytt Falls, all of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Navy, Mrs. Joyce Hilliard, both of Kings Moun- tain, Mrs. Shirley Wilson of Gastonia and Mrs. Eloise Acuff of Gastonia; and one grandchild. MRS. MALLIE ADAMS Funeral services for Mrs. Mallie Ray Hill Adams, 75, of 405 Y ork Road, widow of Frank A. Adams, were conducted Wednesday afternoon-at 2 p.m. from East Side Baptist Church of which she was a charter member. Rev. Buddy Williams and Rev. Dale Thornburg officiated at the rites and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Adams was daughter of the late A.H. and Mary Jane Hardin Hill. Surviving are her son, William H. (Bob) West; two stepsons, Lawrence Adams of Kings Mountain and Fred Adams of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma McGraw of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. Ber- tha Sisk of Forest City; 14 grand- = §#_ and. 297%great- grandchildren.
