Jane will develop a family education, enrichment,” and counseling center in conjunction with the Lutheran churches of the Charlotte area. In May, 1985, he will receive the Doctor of Ministry degree from Eastern Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, Penn- sylvania, in Marriage and Fami- "ly Therapy. In addition to his preparation for the Doctor of Ministry degree, “Mitch” is a certified marriage and family therapist by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is also cer- tified as instructor of Parent Ef- fectiveness Training, Transac- tional Analysis, and Youth Ef- fectiveness Training. His studies at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Master of Education Degree, and she has qualify him as a group counselor for family guidance with com- municative skills in counseling. With his tested and proven organizational, administrative, and leadership abilities as Assis- tant to the Bishop of the South Carolina Synod, he is immanent- ly qualified for this new position. Jane has not been idle during these years her husband has been ‘serving the church. Since graduation from Lenoir-Rhyne College she has earned an M.A.T. Degree in Health Educa- tion and a Ed.D. Degree in Health Education Administra- tion from the University of South Carolina. She has had a wide experience in both church and community service. Jane has published in professional jour- nals and in numerous church publications. Her special interest has been Parenting and Mar- riage Enrichment Education, served as co- facilitator of numerous courses and retreats. Jane is a professional in her own right and Lutheran Family Services is fortunate to have her head up the Charlotte Project. The Mitchams have two children: a daughter, Tamera Lynne, who is married and lives in Columbia, and a son, Jonathan Todd, who is presently enrolled at the University of South Carolina. . The South Carolina Lutheran in its tribute to the Mitchams following his resignation of the Synod position stated, “A great team...this Mitch and Jane! They have shared their com- plimenting skills, bringing to us such love and understanding through their retreats, workshops and conferences, making us all beter ‘folks’ How fortunate we are in North Carolina to have Mitch and Jane return here to direct programs for Lutheran Family Services. Their leadership will surely help make us “better folks,” and that is the purpose of this new Divi- sion of Family Ministries.
