East School toured The Herald Building last week. General Manager Darrell Austin led
the tour and the youngsters especially enjoyed seeing the presses run. Ann Smith, aide,

K-Screening Scheduled
Children who enter
kindergarten this fall will be
involved in a screening pro-
gram at their respective
schools in May. To be eligible
the child must be five years
old on or before October 15,
1985.
The screening will be con-
ducted by, a team of school
personnel including teachers,
psychologists, speech
therapists, the school nurse,
the social worker, and the
principal at each school.
hree sessions are planned
for each day with fifteen
children screened at each
session. Screening will begin
at 8:30 a.m., the second ses-
sion will be at 10: 20 a.m. , and
the last at 1:30
Parents sho
school in their district prior
to April 10, 1985 to secure
necessary forms and make
an appointment for the
screening. Appointments are
made on a first-come-first-
serve basis. If the parent
does not know which school
his child will attend, he may
call the District School Of-
fice, 739-4589 and get the in-
formation.
Parents are expected to at-
tend the pre-school screening
with ‘their child in order to
participate in the orientation,

children presently enrolled ir.
Headstart.
In addition to the com-
pleted registration forms,
which can be secured from
the respective schools,
parents will need to bring a
copy of the child’s legal birth
certificate (NOT the hospital
ccord), his/her ‘‘shot”’
record, and a copy of the
physical examination by the
family doctor or Health
Department.
Screening sessions are as
follows: West School, April
29-30; North, May 1-2; East,
May 6-7; Grover, May 8-9;
Bethware, May 13-14.
