Mrs. Marvin On Committee RALEIGH -- Senator Helen Rhyne Marvin (D-Gaston) has been appointed by Presi- dent pro-tem of the Senate J.J. Harrington to a two year term with the National Con- ference on State Legislatures Committee on Arts, Tourism, and Cultural Resources. Mar- vin has served two prior terms on this board. The National Conference of State Legislatures is one of the most prestigious policy influencing bodies in the na- tion, representing the views of legislatures from all over the United States in presenta- tions before Congress. With the Committee on Arts, Tourism and Cultural Resources, Marvin will study the economic impact of the arts, historic preservation, cultural activities, and tourism. She will also work in design issues in urban revitalization through the arts and historic preserva- tion. The Committee will be engaged in proposing model legislation for state arts pro- motion and will analyze issues in arts legislation. Family medicine became a medical specialty February 8, 1969 with the inception of its residency training pro- gram.
