Grover Honors Randle From Page 1-A “Buren was trained in CPR in Raleigh, and then came back to Grover and trained other members of the squad,” he said. ‘He wanted all members to become EMT’s and he was in the first EMT class conducted in Cleveland County.” Greg Kirk, Director of Emergency Ser- vices in Cherokee County, S.C., said he often calls on Grover for assistance in Nor- theast Cherokee County. ‘‘Not one time have they ever turned us down,” he said. “Grover always seems to have community support and always provides the best of ser- vice, and each time they’ve been called, Buren has responded in one of the am- bulances.”’ Also recognized Sunday on a special pla- que that will hang in the squad building were the other charter members of the squad. Charter members were Randle, Fain Hambright, A.L. Batchler, Kenneth Batchler, Mack Hayes, Cliff Ledford, Am- brose Adams, James Evans, A.L. Ham- bright, Preston Holt, Ortho Lane, Ronald Queen, Bob Mabry, Ralph Miller, Knox Neeley, Marvin Panther, Lee Pruitt, Clyde Rhea, Danny Sides and Bill Putnam. Also taking part in Sunday’s recognition were squad members Andy Haskins, who chaired the celebration committee; Jeff Cash, who researched the squad’s history; Butch Rowland, who was responsible for constructing signs at the city limits recognizing the squad’s 25 years of service, and Larry Bridges, who was in charge of the new flag pole project.
