ay New TG&Y Will Provide Faster Customer Service When it reopens on July 1, the Kings Mountain TG&Y Family Center will be equip- ped with an automated cashiering system designed to provide faster customer . service. The project, tagged POS (Point of Sale), will assist store ‘management in having ample stock of all merchandise by capturing sales of individual items. Cashiers enter the SKU (stock keeping unit) numbers of each item purchased into the POS registers. The POS registers provide store sales information by specific departments on a daily basis. The new POS equipment’s price-look-up = (PLU) capability for promotional merchandise speeds up customer check out time. With PLU, SKU numbers and: their sales prices are entered into the registers prior to the sale period. A total of 60 firefighters, in- cluding police and rescue personnel from the Kings Mountain area, battled the blaze and rescue and police spent about an hour clearing smoke from a near-by apart- ment so that a six menths old baby could breath with a respirator. Roy Hammett, Captain of the Kings Mountain Rescue Squad, said that police mov- ed a large fan from a fire truck into an apartment oc- cupied by a young child and his parents. No one was in- jured in the fire and smoke, said Hammett, but several firemen were given oxygen by rescue workers because of heat exhaustion and smoke. The fire was reported at 3:16 p.m. and firemen from the Kings Mountain Fire Department returned to the station four hours later. Assisting the Kings Mountain Fire Department were the Bethlehem Fire Department, the Grover Fire Department, the Oak Grove Fire Depart- ment, the Chapel Grove Fire Department and the Chestnut Ridge Fire Department. The fire is -still under in- vestigation by Fire Marshal Delane Davis. The Ark Apartments are owned by Kelly Bunch. “It could have been a real tragedy’’ said Captain Ham- mett, who said that volunteers at the scene representated a ‘‘real team effort’. At one time beards could be worn in Romania only if the owner secured an of- ficial permit, and paid the appropriate fee. limited Warranty. PHONE: 482-2407 502 S. Lafayette St. Shelby, N.
