training at Fort Knox, Ky.
During the training,
students received instruction

tics, military courtesy,
military justice, first aid, and
Army history and traditions.

Mrs. C. Ross Baumgardner

graduated May 29th from the
U.S. Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs, Colorado
and commissioned a Second
Lieutenant in the United
States Air Force.
Baumgardner and his
fiancee, Tammy Beatty, of
Colorado Springs, are here
for a short visit. He will
report for advanced training

Training
Airman James S. Pettus,
son of James M. Pettus of
11207 Smoketree Lane,
Pineville, N.C. and grandson
of Mary D. Dixon of Rt. 9,
Charlotte, N.C., has been
assigned to Keesler Air Force
Base, Miss., after completing
Air Force basic training.
During the six weeks at
Lackland Air Force Base,
Texas, the airman studied
the Air Force mission,
organization and customs
and received special training
in human relations.
In addition, airmen who
complete basic training earn
credits toward an associate
degree in. applied science
through the Community Col-
lege of the Air Force.
The airman will now
receive specialized instruc-
tion in the communications-
electronics systems field.

graduate of Kings Mountain
Senior High School and a 1980
graduate of Presbyterian
Hospital School of Nursing.
She is employed as Emergen-
cy Room Head Nurse at
Kings Mountain Hospital.
The bridegroom is the son’
of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Proctor
of Kings Mountain. He is a
graduate of John T. Hoggard
High School in Wilmington.
He is employed by S and S
Fabrics and Sewing Machine.
