Page 16A - THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD - Thursday, June 27, 1985 OBITURRIES SELINA KENDRICK Funeral services for Selina Lowery Kendrick, 89, of Route 1, Grover, who died Monday, were conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Plea- sant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Mark King and Rev. Charles Rayburn, interment following in the church cemetery. Mrs. Kendrick was wife of Joseph Yates Kendrick, who survives, and was daughter of William B. and Rebecca Borders Lowery. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are five daughters, Mayme Gantt of Kershaw, S.C., Louise Ken- drick of the home, Annie Ella Lane, Mary Jo Crawford and Sophia Goforth, all of Shelby; a brother, Cliff Lowery of Route 1, Grover; a sister, Vicie Kendrick of Shelby; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church building fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice. MRS. THELMA HICKS Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma McDaniel Hicks, 63, of 204 Juniper Street, widow of Hal Durham Hicks, were conducted Sunday afternoon from Central United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Rev. George Auman of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Hicks died Friday in Charlotte Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Grier L. and Alice Fulton McDaniel and a retired tex- tile employee. Surviving are . her daughter, Mrs. Jean Vance of Charlotte; two brothers, Gail McDaniel and G.L. McDaniel, Jr., and two sisters, Mrs. Viva Crawford and Mrs. Betty Yarbro, all of Kings Mountain; and one grandson. B\ JIM TESTA MRS. CLAUDE ARROWOOD Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Kathleen McKinney Ar- rowood, 57, of 508 S. 12th St., Bessemer City, who died Wednesday in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were con- ducted Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Interdenomina- tional Holiness Church of Kings Mountain, interment following in Bessemer City Memorial Park, Mrs. Arrowood was widow of Claude Arrowood and was daughter of Mrs. Eunice Page McKinney and the late James McKinney. She was a native of Gaston County and member of Interdenomina- tional Holiness Church. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three sons, Larry and Wayne Arrowood of Bessemer City and Rev. Allen Arrowood of Florence, *S.C., one brother, Buck McKinney of Kings Mountain and nine grandchildren. ERNEST McClain Funeral services for Ernest Carl McClain, 84, of Shelby, retired manager of Sterchi Furniture Company in Shelby and father of Mrs. Rachel Goforth of Kings Mountain, were conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. from Elizabeth Baptist Church of which he was a member. Dr. Harold Lindsey and Rev. Fred A. Mauney of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment was in the church cemetery. Mr. McClain died Friday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Lavonia, Ga., son of the late Charles Augustus and Nina Campbell McClain. He was husband of the late Nettie Mae Dunson McClain. He was a member of the Elizabeth Church choir, chairman of the finance com- mittee and a past Sunday School superintendent. He was a member of the Kiwanis club and a past president of the Kings Mountain Kiwanis Club. Also surviving are two daughters, Marty Mathis of Greenville, S.C. and Jean Mauney of Shelby; three brothers, Charles, Broughton and John McClain, all of Asheville; a sister, Ruth Mec- Clain Ternes of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., nine grandchildren and ‘eight great- grandchildren. MELVIN RAMSEY Funeral services for Melvin Eugene Douglas Ramsey, 45, of 49 Gray Street, who died Thursday at home, were conducted Mon- day at 4 p.m. from Piedmont Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Spencer, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Ramsey was a native of Cleveland County and was self-employed. He was the son of the late Harvey and Carrie Ramsey. Surviving are a son, Johnny Dwayne Perry of Shelby; three brothers, Robert Ramsey of Mon- tgomery, Ala., Fred Ramsey of Macon, Ga., and Harold Ramsey of Kings Mountain; and two sisters, Betty Jo Ramsey and Ruth Metcalf, both of Kings Mountain. WILLIAM WEST Funeral services for William ‘‘Bob’”’ Henry West, 62, of 405 York Road, who died Thursday in Charlotte Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Eastside Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Rev. Dale Thornburg and Rev. Darrell Coble officiated at the rites and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. West was a retired maintenance supervisor with Pneumafil Company and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late John Henry West and Mallie Hill Adams. - Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Colleen Wykle West; two sons, William (Bill) West and Robert K. West of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Pamela West Huntsinger and Tonra Callaham of Kings Mountain and Beverly An- nette Chen of Charlotte; two stepbrothers, Lawrence Adams of Kings Mountain and Fred Adams of Dallas; a stepsister, Thema McGraw of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and seven grandchildren. MRS. NUNA PETERSON Funeral services for Nuna Bolin Peterson, 77, of Carolina Avenue in Grover, who died Friday in Gaston Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Kings Creek Church of God. Rev. Ronald Jones of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment was in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Peterson was a native of York, S.C., daughter of the late Avery and Lula Bolin Bolin and the wife of the late Willie Peterson. She was a member of Kings Creek Church of God. Surviving are three sons, Floyd and Johnny Peterson of Kings Creek and David Peterson of Grover; five daughters, Thelma Nichols of Clover, Kings Mountain, Shirley Rudisill of Gastonia, Nellie Wylie of Grover, and Hazel Coffey of Hickory: a brother, Presley Bolin of Cherokee Falls; a sister, Ethel Peter- son of Gaffney; 34 grand- children and 27 great- grandchildren. JOE GREEN SR. MORGANTON - Joe Tillman Green Sr., 88, of Route 1, died Sunday at his residence after an illness of four weeks. He was the son of the late John and Mary Varner Green and was a retired textile worker. He had also worked Louise Moore of - as a foster grandparent at the Western Carolina Center in Morganton for the past 16 years. He was a veteran of World War 1. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Loudermilk Green, with whom he was celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary at the time of his death. Also surviving are four sons, Arlis Green, Harold Green and Joe Green Jr., all of Morganton, and Jack Green of Virginia Beach, Va.; five daughters, Mrs. Jewel Houk, Mrs. Gail Miller and Mrs. Ozelle Sotelo of Morganton, Mrs. Margie Wright of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Johnsie Chatam of Marion; one brother, Tom Green of Gaffney, S.C.; two half-brothers, Connell Green of Waynesville and Jay Green of Hot Springs; one sister, Mrs. Mae Shelton of Clinton, Tn.; four half- sisters, Mrs. Silas Roberts, Mrs. Chattie Mannings and Mrs. Marie Payne of Hot Spr- ings and Miss Geneva Green of Atlanta, Ga.; his step- mother, Mrs. Hulda Green of Hot Springs; 26 grand- children; and 18 -great- grandchildren. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moun- tain View Baptist Church ' daughters, Number Two. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the chapel fund of Western Carolina Center in Morgan- ton. : JACK MULL Memorial services for Jack Talmadge Mull, 67, of 1375 Grover Road, who died Sun- day in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Masters Funeral Home by Rev. David Hardin, inter- ment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Mull was a driver for Akers Motor Lines. He was the son of the late Charles and Lois Whisnant Mull. He was a member of American Legion Post 155. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Bennett Mull of the home; two sons, Michael David Mull and Christopher Kevin Mull of Kings Moun- tain; one stepson, David Chavis of Gastonia; two Mrs. Deborah Whiddon of Bessemer City and Miss Glorai Mull of Juarex, Mexico; one brother, Hobart Mull of Lawndale; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Ballard of Gastonia, and Mrs. Sue Ramsey of Belmont; six grandchildren.
