Sandra Reynolds, 806 Board Rejects Petition City safety reasons, the ci- ty board of commissioners Monday night unanimously rejected a petition from business and property owners to allow two hour parking on both sides of the 100 block of West Mountain Street. The board had tabled the request from John D. Bullock of Bullock Industries from the recent meeting. In a related matter, the board approved a request from Chief J.D. Barrett to eliminate parking along a segment of the east side of Cherokee Street adjacent to the police department park- ing lot. Mr. Bullock said after the meeting that he is distressed that the board did not allow two hour parking in the area of Griffin Drug Store and the building which he owns across the street, the former H&R Block building. “We have a real problem with lack of parking in this area,”’ he said. Bullock said he believed limited parking of two hours on both sides of the street would enable patrons of the stores along the 100 block of West Moun- tain to shop in these stores and eliminate a ‘‘serious pro- blem.” His letter requesting the change was read by Mayor John Moss and a peti- tion from all business owners “in the 100 block area was again presented.
