BRUCE EDWARD BRIDGES (Jacquelyn McSwain) : McSwain-Bridges Couple Exchange Marriage Vows David Baptist Church was the setting Saturday, June 29, for the wedding of Jacquelyn Delle McSwain and Bruce Edward Bridges. Rev. L.M. Schuman, former pastor of David Bap- tist Church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony, assisted by Dr. Joe Bridges, the groom’s uncle. Music was provided by Mrs. Faye Gantt on the organ, Mrs. Jackie Porter on the piano, and Miss Leslie “Moe on the oboe. Vocal selec- tions were provided by Miss April Hoyle and William McSwain, the bride’s brother. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, wore “bridesmaids d an Original gown designed and crafted by Mrs. Louise McSwain, the bride’s aunt, and Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones. The gown was taffeta with lace overlay and featured a Queen Anne neckline. The full skirt was accented with inset lace ruffles and a hemline train. The bride car- ried a white Bible covered in satin with dusty pink roses that matched the resses. The altar was decorated with palms and a lighted candelbrum. WILLIAM DICKEY McGILL (Laura Laine Herndon) Herndon-McGill Couple Wed Saturday At KM Baptist An event of wide social in- terest was the Candlelight formal wedding Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Kings Mountain Baptist Church which united Miss Laura Laine Herndon and William Dickey (Chip) McGill in marriage. Rev. J.C. Goare, former minister of the bride, and Rev. William Tyson, minister of the bridegroom and pastor of Boyce Memorial ARP Church, officiated at the ceremony which featured the lighting of the Unity candle, the reading of I Corinthians 13, the congregational sing- ing of ‘“The Church’s One Foundation” and the bride and bridegroom’s favorite sacred music sung by Mrs. Allen Dixon and Norman F. VINCENT LAWTON HAYNES (Regina Diane Bell) Bell-Haynes Couple Wed Saturday At Depot Center Regina Diane Bell and Vin- cent Lawton Haynes were married Saturday, June 29th, in a 3 p.m. ceremony at the historic Kings Mountain Depot Center. Magistrate Linda Herndon heard the exchange of vows in the presence of immediate families and friends of the couple. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bell of Kings" ‘Mountain: "She is" a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and Ap- _palachian * State University - and is employed by the Gaston County Job Training Center as a counselor. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle L. Haynes of Bessemer City, is a graduate of Bessemer City High School. He is employed by Howell Masonry. The bride’s father gave her in marriage. Allison Bell of Kings Mountain was her sister’s maid of honor. The bride’s wedding gown was a tea length design of white lace and organza and featured a lace bodice and long sleeves. Her camelot ‘capwas attached with a short veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. The maid of honor’s gown was a tea length design of pink and she carried a bou- quet of pink and white flowers. Turn To Page 3-B MRS. ROBERT SOMMERS MANER (Susan Martin Beard) Beard-Maner Couple Wed Sunday In Shelby Ceremony First Baptist Church of Shelby was the setting Sun- day at 3 p.m. for the wedding of Susan Martin Beard and Robert Sommers Maner. Dr. Gene L. Washburn heard the exchange of vows in the impressive double ring ceremony. Tim Ware was organist and Robert F. Dills was vocalist for the program of nuptial music. Turn To Page 7-B MRS. JIMMY DWAYNE KENNERLY (Janet Marie Bagwell) Bagwell-Kennerly Couple Exchange Vows In Cherryville Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Wayne Kennerly, who were wed Sunday, are on a wed- ding trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. and afterwards will be at home after July 4th in Bessemer City. Miss Janet Marie Bagwell became Mr. Kennerly’s bride in a 3 p.m. ceremony in Capps Memorial Missionary Methodist Church in Cher- ryville. The bride’s grand- father, Rev. H.S. Scruggs, heard the exchange of vows - in the double ring ceremony. ‘Cornerstone’, a modern evangelical quartet based in Raleigh, presented the pro- gram of wedding music. Charles Bagwell escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The ‘ bride’s wedding gown was a formal design of white organ- za nad lace featuring a square neckline with short puffed sleeves and lace- trimmed skirt which extend- ed into a chapel length train. Her lace trimmed fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a camelot cap of sequins and lace and she carried a white prayerbook topped with vielets. ; Ms. Nancy Allen attended her sister as matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Terri Bagwell of Radcliffe, Ky., sister of the bride, Mrs. Menda Scism of Lattimire, Turn To Page 6-B MRS. REGGIE DWAYNE BURKS (Charlotte Ann Bridges) Bridges-Burks Pair Wed At Carson Memorial Baptist Carson Memorial Baptist Church in the Crowder’s Mountain Community was the setting Saturday for a 2 p.m. exchange of vows ‘uniting Miss Charlotte Ann Bridges and Reggie Dwayne Burks. Rev. Leonard Conner of South Carolina was assisted by the bride’s pastor, Rev. Wayne Kirk, and Rev. Shook of Hickory in officiating at the double-ring ceremony which included the lighting of the Unity candle.’ The rainbow theme of the wedding was featured in the altar decorations which in- cluded an arch of tapers enhanced by spring flowers and palms in the background. Danny Turner of Hickory was pianist, Mrs. Doris Terry of Gastonia was organist, and a quartet of musicians play- ing trumpets and trombones included Mark Shook, Mike Hall, Spencer Flowers and Turn To Page 12-B
