Schneiders Wed Saturday
Mr. and Mrs. Kevin John
Schneider, who were wed
Saturday, are on a wedding
trip and afterwards will be at
home in Taylors, South
Carolina.
Miss Ellen Dawn Bridges
became Mr. Schneider’s
bride in a 2 p.m. wedding in
Carson Memorial Baptist
Church in the Crowder’s
Mountain Community.
Rev. Jack Beals, pastor of
Emmanuel Baptist Church of
Brockton, Mass., heard the
couple exchange vows of the
double-ring ceremony in the
impressive Unity candle
ceremony.
Miss Edie Bridges, cousin
of the bride, was pianist for
the program of nuptial
music, Mrs. Doris Terry,
aunt of the bride, was
organist, and Miss Tina
Bridges, sister of the bride,
and Scott Morrison of
Gastonia were vocalists and
sang the duets, ‘Together’,
“Lord Send Us Anywhere”
and ‘‘A Tender Heart.”
The altar of the church was
arranged with an arch of
summer flowers and tapers
in wrought-iron candelabra
with a central arrangement
of lavender flowers and a
white kneeling bench com-
pleting the candlelight set-
ting.
Bobby G. Bridges escorted
his daughter to the altar and
gave her in marriage. The
ride’s wedding gown was a
formal design of white organ-
za styled with a Queen Ann
neckline, natural waist, and
bishop sleeves. The bodice
and cuffs of the gown were
adorned in Chantilly lace and
pearls. The full skirt fell into
a semi-cathedral train trim-
med in a cascade of Chantilly
lace and organza ruffles. A
cap of silk Venise lace and -
pearls held her matching
waltz length veil of illusion
which was trimmed with
pear] scallops. She carried a
ouquet of white roses.

Fla., cousins of the bride.

All the attendants wore
long orchid colored formals
in old-fashioned styling with
on-or-off shoulder neckline,
short sleeves and very full
skirts worn over hoops and
crinolines. They carried sum-
mer fans arranged with an
white orchid.
Aaron Bridges, cousin of
the bride, carried the rings.
Christopher Schneider of
Tampa, Fla. was his
brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Dwayne
Burks of Greenville, S.C. and
Jamie Land of Kings Moun-
tain, brothers-in-law of the

Mountain has been selected
for competition in the Modern
Miss State Finals to be held
at the Adam’s Mark in
Charlotte, at 8:00 p.m. on
November 23 and 24.
‘‘Modern Miss’’ has
selected outstanding young
women from all over the
state to participate in the ac-
tivities. The program is
designed to recognize young
women, 13 to 18, who excel in
scholastic achievement and

community involvement.
Contestants are judged on
poise, personality, grooming,
and a speech or talent presen-
tation, as well as scholastic
and civic achivements. En-
trants must have an 80” or
better grade average and
document at least ten (10)
hours volunteer service to a
community or charitable
organization.
The statewide ‘‘Modern
Miss’’ competition is coor-
dinated at the Modern Miss
National Office, Box 160,
Celina, Tennessee 38551-9989.

silver wedding anniversary
Sunday, August 4th, at a
reception from 2:30 until 4
p.m. in Putnam Memorial
Baptist Church Fellowship
Hall.
Entertaining together were
Renee Carroll, Kim and Phil
Jones and Thelma Watter-
son.
highlight of decoration, was
overlaid with a lace
tablecloth and held a blue
fountain, an arrangement of
mixed roses and a 25th an-
niversary cake of yellow
roses and blue flowers.
Refreshments of punch,
mints, chips, open-faced
sandwiches, nuts, orange
balls, spread and crackers,
and cake squares of blue and
green were served.
A decorated table held
photographs of the honored
couple from childhood to
their wedding day and to the
present.
Also assisting in serving
refreshments were Mary
Davis, Jean Toney and Lisa
Benfield.

After the ceremony the
bride’s parents entertained
at a beautifully-appointed
reception in the church
fellowship hall where the or-
chid theme of the wedding
was carried out in decorative
details. A five-tiered wedding
cake decorated in varying
shades of lavender and white
centered the bride’s table,
highlight of decoration. The
tiers were enhanced by stair-
ways holding miniature
figurines representing
members of the bridal party
with the top stair holding the
bride and bridegroom
figurine. Fresh flowers top-
ped the cake. Miss Linda
Lewallen of Dallas, assisted
by Mrs. Mary Champion of
Kings Mountain, served the
cake to guests. Misses Kim
Terry, Beth Terry and Candy
Morris served punch.
Lavender over white cloths
overlaid the punch, cake, and
refreshment tables. Summer
flowers in lavender and white
decorated the hall.

ty, are parents of the bride
who is granddaughter of Jake
Bridges of Kings Mountain
and the late Mrs. Bridges and

Gastonia and is a senior stu-
dent at Bob Jones University
in Greenville, S.C. where she
is pursuing a B.S. degree in

Saturday At Grace Church
Grace United Methodist
Church provided the setting
Saturday for a 1 p.m. ex-
change of wedding vows
uniting Miss Kristen Jean
Hagen and Randolph Her-
man Harry in marriage.
Rev. Manuel Wortman, of
Wesley Foundation in Chapel
Hill, heard the exchange of
vows in the impressive
double-ring ceremony.
Mrs. Dan Howe of Gastonia
and a string quartet of musi-
cians presented the wedding
music.
The altar of the church was
decorated with bouquets of
roses and carnations and
enhanced by lighted tapers in
spiral candelabra.
Dr. Milton M. Hagen
escorted his daughter to the
altar and gave her in mar-
riage. The bride’s wedding
gown was a formal design of

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED—Mr. and Mrs. Paul R.
Putnam of Route 3, Kings Mountain, announce the engage-
ment of their daughter, Elizabeth Ann, to Ronald Wayne Kin-
ney of Charlotte, son of Mrs. H.F. Kinney of Pineville and the
late Mr. Kinney. The bride-elect is also the granddaughter of
Mrs. Elizabeth Hastings of Bessemer City. Miss Putnam is a
1979 graduate of Burns Senior High School and a 1982
graduate of Central Piedmont Community College with
Associate Degree in
Medical Records Technology. She is
employed in the Medical Records Department of Charlotte
Memorial Hospital. Mr. Kinney attended Bob Jones Academy
in Greenville, S.C. and is a computer programmer for Kinney
Stamping & Engraving of Charlotte. The wedding will take
d place Oct. 12th in Calvary Church of Charlotte.

and train. Her full length veil
of illusion was attached to a
tiara of seed pearls and se-
quins and she carried a bou-
quet of pink roses and baby’s
breath.

King of Grover attended the
bride as matron of honor and
bridesmaids were Mrs.
Laura Harden of Chapel Hill,
Miss Lynne Hardy of High
Point and Miss Kathryn
Ellicott of Troy, Ala., cousin
of the bride.
All the attendants wore
long rose colored taffeta for-
mals with fitted waistlines
and very full skirts. Puff
sleeves with bows extending
from the shoulders to the
elbows enhanced the dresses.
They carried long-stemmed
pink roses.
Paul Shuler of Troy, Ohio,
cousin of the bride, carried
the rings. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Brian Shuler of
Troy, Ohio.
Best man for the
bridegroom was his brother,
John William Harry of
Moyock, N.C. Groomsmen
were Daniel Stonecypher of
Moyock, David Sawyer of
Raleigh and Sidney Lowe of
Moyock.
The bride’s mother wore a
light blue taffeta street-
length dress featuring a lace
overblouse and a corsage of
roses.
The bridegroom’s mother
chose a rose linen street-
length dress and a corsage of
roses.
Erik and Troy Hagen,
brothers of the bride,
distributed the wedding pro-
grams. Miss Nancy Rikard
presided at the bride’s
register.
After the ceremony the
bride’s parents entertained
at a beautifully appointed
wedding reception in the
church fellowship hall where
the rose theme of the wedding
was carried out in decorative
details. Assisting the Hagens
in receiving and entertaining
was Mrs. Jo Ellis, who
directed the wedding. Mrs. Al
Crawford cut and served the
wedding cake and Misses
Susan Yarbro and Kathy
McDaniel served punch.
