GC Graduation Scheduled
Gaston College will hold its
twenty-ninth graduate on
Wednesday, August 21, at
7:30 p.m. in the Myers Center
Auditorium when 128
graduates will receive
degrees and diplomas.
The commencement
speaker is Ann Heafner
Gaither, Executive Vice-
President and Chief Ex-
ecutive Officer of J.H.
Heafner Company, Incor-
porated and President of
Heafner Data Service. She is
a native of Lincoln County
and now resides in Newton,
North Carolina.
Gaither is a graduate of the
University of North Carolina-
Greensboro where she
received her Bachelor of
Music. She served as Music
Coordinator for the city
schools in Enterprise,
Alabama and then in David-

Incorporated in Advertising.
In 1977 she became Vice-
President and was appointed
Senior Vice-President in 1978.
In 1979 she became Chief Ex-
ecutive Officer and Ex-
ecutive Vice President.
J.H. Heafner company
employs approximately 350
people and has locations in
nine southeastern states.
Gaither has served as
Director of the Lincoln Coun-
ty Chamber of Commerce,
Board of Visitors at Davidson
College, Board of Directors
at Gardner-Webb Collge, and
Director of Broyhill
Academy. She was the first
woman director to serve on
the\ Board of Directors for
North Carolina National
Bank.
Gaither is married to
Albert Gaither, President of
Ridgeview Mills, Inc., and is
the mother of four children.
The participating minister
is Clarence E. Sifford, Pastor
of Bethpage Lutheran Church
in Lincolnton, North
Carolina.
