Resolutions Grover Sewer * Approved From Page 1-A : ‘praised value of the property. The property owners will have 120 days to answer the town’s resolutions. If a pro- perty owner decides to sue the town over the price, the court will decide a fair value. If it comes to more than the Sbregisell price, the town will ‘pay the difference. i “I think every appraisal was on the high side, and I can’t see us having to pay anyone more than the ap- praised figures,” Neisler said. ; In a related matter, the town authorized Neisler to make an offer to a property owner for street right of way on Pine Street. Acquiring that right of way is necessary to have an entrance to a pump station. In other action Monday, the board approved a revision in the proposed recreation park plan to include a picnic shelter and multi-purpose building at difference loca- tions in the park. - ‘Mayor Bill McCarter sug- gested moving the picnic shelter, which will be a 24 b 30 feet structure, to the wood- ed area of the park. That move, he said, would remove the shelter which is expected to be used largely by a senior citizens group, away from the ballfields which will be used mainly by younger people. The multi-purpose building, which will include two restrooms, concession stand and storage room, will be located near the two ballfields. The town also plans a tennis court at the site. : The town is seeking the help of the National Guard in building the complex and Mc- - Carter said he hopes to hear by pe Guard by the end of the Former KM Minister Was Held _ ¢ _ From Page I-A: of the San Juan River by the Contras, along with 18 newsmen. Ruth Gamble, member of El Bethel Church of Kings Mountain, remembers Golden as a “young man of much compassion and well liked in the church and com- munity.”” Golden, according to his Kings Mountain friends, was always doing . things for the sick and shut-in ‘and the elderly. “He was very kind and everyone in our ~ church liked him and hated to Contract Okayed From Page 1-A Ollis pointed out that the fedderal 201 study previously tied Grover into the Kings Mountain area for waste pro- cessing. He said he doubted that Grover could get EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) backing for its own wastewater treatment plant. Kelly made a rebutal, say- ing that “I would have to see that in writing. I don’t believe federal officials can tell us we have to take someone else’s sewage.” Kelly also objected strong- ly to the fee assessed, pointed out that Gastonia charges $1.13 per 1,000 gallons treated and declared the 55 cents fee quoted in the contract is “too low.” However, both Com- missioner Norman King and City Attorney George Thomasson pointed out the contract allows the City of Kings Mountain to increase the fee if the actual cost of treating the waste should in- crease. Kimbrell also said the standard current fee for sewage customers outside the city is 55 cents. City Commissioner Humes Houston suggested the board approve the document ‘as to form and contract’ to allow negotiations. City Attorney George Thomasson agreed and said he suspected that the Town of Grover would have suggestions and possibly some alternations to make to the contract. Commissioners voted unanimously to offer the sewer contract to Grover.
