Coming To Gastonia
There is something unique
about the Tommy Dorsey Or-
chestra which is conducted
by Buddy Morrow and will be
appearing in the Gastonia
community in concert, at
Hunter Huss High School
Auditorium on Thursday, Oc-
tober 3, at 8 p.m.
It’s leader, Buddy Morrow,
is a veteran of the “Big
Band’ era and himself a
member of the original
Dorsey brigade. However,
people often expect to see the
orchestra comprised of men
the same vintage as those in
the original band and are sur-
prised at the number of
younger members on board.
Most of these younger
musicians are graduates of
the numerous fine music
schools throughout the coun-
try and, strange as it may
seem to some fans of the
1940's, are often older than

The annual Kings Mountain
Country Club Mixed Team
Championship was played
this past weekend at KMCC.
Peggy and Stoney Jackson
successfully defended their
championship with scores of
T7-77-154.
The tournament was
layed by Scotch-Foursome
ormat with men and women
alternating shots. Runnersup
were the team of Steve Bess
and Linda Neely with scores
of 79-81-and 160. Second
runners-up were the team of
Mickie Powers and Margaret
Williams with scores of
82-80-162.
Twenty-two teams par-
ticipated in the tournament.
Awards will be presented at
the Ray Barnes Banquet on
Oct. 19 in the KMCC
clubhouse.
The next tournament is this
coming weekend which is the
annual Member-Member
Tournament. Defending
champions are Larry Dunn
and Mickey Powers.
