Page 8A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, October 10, 1985 WHO -WHAT- WHEN WHERE - WHY WHO Yard Sale Is Saturday The New Joy of Youth Singers will be sponsering a yard sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the home of the group’s director, Joy Huffstickler, 323 East Se- cond Ave., in Gastonia. The 24 singers, ages 4 to 15 will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to sing for President and Mrs. Reagan during the ‘Pageant of Peace” on December 13th. This trip was arranged through the efforts of 10th District Congressman James T. Broyhill. The New Joy of Youth Singers was formed in January 1984 and has ap- ared at many churches, ocal gospel sings and patriotic celebrations. Most recently the group performed at the Carolina Gospel Fest, sponsered by McDonald’s, in Statesville. In addition to the upcoming Washington Trip, the New Joy of Youth Singers will be helping Santa usher in the -Christmas season with an ap- pearance at the Eastridge Mall in Gastonia on November 22nd and at the Oak Tree Plaza on November 30th. The group’s lead singer, Dodie Ewing, a 14-year-old freshman at Clover High School, won the vocal com- petition in the Cleveland County Talent Show. Sponsor Kid’s Circus Trip The Shriners of the White Plains Shrine Club will be a sponsor of the Fabulous Han- neford Circus. The Han- neford Circus is the oldest Circus in the Unites States starting 150 years ago in Europe and continues with the World Famous Riding Hannefords. The Shriners are the largest sponsors of Cir- cuses in the United States with 200 plus cities. The White Plains Shrine Club will be Foonsoring a group of needy children to go to a performance of the Royal Hanneford Circus. Rev. John Harris is pastor of the church. It’s A Boy For Gibsons Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gibson announce the birth of their se- cond child, Andrew Eugene, on Sept. 30. He weighed 8 lbs. and 3 oz. Drew has an older brother, Alan, age 3. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dorus Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gibson. Great-grandparent is Mrs. Jake Hord, Sr., all of Kings Mountain.
