\ Stew art Lib : ARLENE BARRETT WITH ‘HOUR MAGAZINE” host ° GARY COLLINS. Gary Collins Is One Of 10 ‘Most Watchable’ It’s easy to see why Gary Collins, ‘Hour Magazine’ host in his sixth season on CBS, has been recently named one of the “Ten Most Watchable Men.” Arlene Barrett and I were guests of WBTV at a luncheon Friday in Charlotte which honored Collins, guest at the WBTV-sponsored Southern Women’s Show, and found him just as delightful off camera as he is on camera. Hosting a show as varied as ‘Hour Magazine’’, aired by WBTV Channel 3, Collins has to be many-faceted: charming, comical, concerned, caring. Millions of viewers look to him, not only for entertainment, but for answers and each day on “Hour Magazine’, Collins presents experts from a wide range of fields and has been in the forefront of coverage of such issues as AIDS, advances in cancer treatment and agoraphobia. Collins also welcomes front line celebrity Joan Collins, Jack Lemmon, So _Mgione. And, when stars visi Collins ‘they cor prepared to discuds the vital iss ir lives. In a recent show, he interviewed his wife, former Miss America Mary Ann Mobley, who incidentally, now stars in the television show, ‘Different Strokes’, also seen on WBTV. Collins, who has hosted over 1,000 editions of Hour Magazine, gives his visitors and viewers a sense of con- fidence. It’s easy to see why he received the Emmy as Outstanding Host of a Talk/Information Show in 1984 from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. n, and Sylvester KMLT To Hold Tryouts _ guests including Jimmy Stewart, First Lady Nancy Reagan," The Kings Mountain Little Theatre will hold tryouts for its first production of the 1985-86 season, ‘‘The Birds theatre on Foote Mineral Road.
