OBITURRIES EDNA PUTNAM Funeral services for Edna Tate Putnam, 69, of Route 2, who died Thursday in the Kings Mountain Convales- cent Center, were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Bruce Hancock, assisted by Rev. Mitchell Pruitt, officiated at the rites and interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Putnam was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Vance and Florence Crawford Tate and widow of Paul Sidney Putnam. She was a retired textile employee. Surviving are one son, Wayne S. Putnam of Kings Mountain; one daughter, . Doris Greene of Kings Moun- tain; one brother, Grady Tate of Kings Mountain; and five sisters, Eunice Cody of Bessemer City, Mozelle Put- nam of Kings Mountain, Alma Pruitt of Tucker, Ga., Irene England of North Hollywood, Calif., and Lois Melton of Knoxville, Tenn. and five grandsons. : Page 2A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, October 31, 1985 MRS. CORA SIPE Mrs. Cora Dixon Sipe, 86, of 107 North Goforth Street, Kings Mountain, died Tues- day at the Kings Mountain Convalescent Center. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, she was the daughter of e late Robert Barnette and Frances Watterson Dixon. She was the wife of the late Grier Franklin Sipe. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Bill Sipe of Kings Mountain and Ed Sipe of Winston- Salem; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Hallman of Shelby, Mrs. Nellene Thornburg of Morganton, Mrs. Norma Atkinson of Clover, S.C., and Mrs. Sue Wilson of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Ira Dixon and Lee Dixon, both of Kings Mountain; two sisters, ¢ Mrs. Myle Huffstetler and Mrs. Lucille Sellers, both of Kings Mountain; 15 grand- children and eight great- grandchildren. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church by Dr. Joel Jenkins and the Rev. J.J. Thornburg. Bobby Gilley officiated at the rites and interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in York, Mr. Thomas was a native of Blairsville, Ga., son of the late Gordon and Dessie Beavers Thomas and a retired automobile mechanic. He was a member of South Gastonia Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Young Thomas; four sons, Jerry Thomas of Dallas, Gene and Archie Thomas and James Swanson of Gastonia; two daughters, Hazel Hayes and Kathy Beavers, both of Gastonia, two brothers, J.V. and Clyde Thomas of Gastonia; three sisters, Jessie Maxey of Mur- phy, Gladys Rogers of Blairsville, Ga. and Eleve Bolch of Gastonia; 15 grand- children and four great- grandchildren. KATHRYN BOYD Kathryn Elizabeth Boyd, 75, of 103 N. Tracy St., died Friday at home. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church Missionary Department. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Mount Zion Baptist Church. Rev. J.H.
