Page 12C-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, November 7, 1985 ~ Andy Williams Completes Basic Marine Pvt. Andy D. Williams, son of Charles and Mary A. Williams of Route 1, Grover, N.C., has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. During the 11-week train- ing cycle, Williams was ‘taught the basics of bat- tlefield survival. He was in- troduced to the typical daily routine that he will ex- perience during his enlist- ment and studied the per- sonal and professional stan- dards traditionally exhibited by Marines. He participated in an ac- tive physical conditioning program and gained Joi ciency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle markmanship and close order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were em- phasized throughout the training cycle. He is a 1985 graduate of Emmanuel Christian Academy, Kings Mountain. Barnett Completes Basic Training Army Private Paula L. Barnett, daughter of Vernell A. Barnett of 522 Baker St., Kings Mountain, has com- pleted basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tac- tics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and tradition. She is a 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. Scottie Hamrick Earns Army Achievement Medal Sgt. E/5 Scottie Hamrick, son of Gilbert and Shirley Hamrick of Kings Mountain, received the Army Achieve- ment Medal recently while serving with C Battery 63rd Battalion in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Sgt. E/5 Hamrick is shop foreman and senior mechanic at Fort Sill and has been in the Army two years and nine months. He and his wife, Penn Hamrick, daughter of Jac and Doris Upchurch of Kings Mountain, will be returning to Kings Mountain to live when Sgt.
