Barnes Auditorium. Cruise the legendary Nile River in a traditional sailing boat. Enjoy the river scenery of vibrantly fertile fields and date orchards. The Nile River is Egypt's lifeline. In Alexandria, stroll the beaches, explore the harbor and El Morse Mosque, Man- tajah Palace, Pompey’s Piller and the Alexandrian KIWANIS CLUB Rev. Hawkins recently com- pleted a course on eye removal techniques and is one of the few morticians in the state qualified to perform such procedures, skills which are very important as a precursor to cornea transplants and research pro- jects which aid the blind. Hawkins told of some of the methods being used to help the sight impaired and in some cases return sight to the blind. The Lions club is currently conducting the sale of fruit cakes to benefit its Christmas season projects for the blind. Auditions Scheduled The Little Theatre of Gastonia will be holding audi- tions for its upcoming pro- duction of Noel Coward’s classic comedy ‘‘Blithe Spirit” Decemr 8 & 9 at 7:30 at the Little Theatre (238 S. Clay Street). There are 5 female and 2 male roles in ‘Blithe Spirit” and anyone interested in do- | ing technical work on the pro- duction is encouraged to at- tend the auditions. Christmas Concert Set The Gaston College Music Faculty will present the music of Alex Hegenbart featuring the Gaston College Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of Janet Siler. The music, which is compos-, ed by Hegenbart will include “Lyric Movement for Strings and Woodwinds’’ and a com- position ‘‘Lakeside Sketches’ for orchestra, oboe, and piano. The three movements in- clude ‘‘Sailing,”’ ‘‘Quiet Sunset,” and ‘‘Water Skiing.”” The third movement has never been publicly per- formed and will be perform- ed for the first time. Judy Sanderson is oboist and Hegenbart is pianist for this composition. In addition, the College Chorus will present Hegen- ‘Hear Ye! A Christmas Carol Cantata” in three parts: The Advent, The Birth, and The Adoration. The public is invited to hear this Christmas Concert at 8 p.m. on December 7 in the Myers Center Auditorium at Gaston College. There is no admission charge. ‘Applications Accepted Applications are now being accepted for the JTPA In- dividual Referral Training Program. Individual Referral is a program sponsored by the Job Training Partnership Act to assist eligible participants in continuing their education and obtaining unsubsidized employment after school. Registration for classes will be Monday, Dec. 2, 1985. Any Cleveland County resident who meets the income guidelines will be considered. Bazaar Saturday Pathway Baptist Church will sponsor a bazaar Satur- day beginning at 8 a.m. at the Depot Center.
