OBITURRIES Thursday, November 28, 1985-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Page 3A WRAY BUMGARDNER Funeral services for Wray - Eugene Bumgardner, 68, of Route 1, were conducted Tussday morning at 11 o'clock from Oak View Bap- tist Church of which he was a member. His pastor, Rev. Robbie Moore, officiated at the rites and interment was in Moun- tain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Bumgardner died Sun- day night at 6:30 p.m. in Cleveland Memorial Hospital after illness of several mon- ths. He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Thomas Edward and Hattie Jenkins Bumgardner and a retired textile employee. He was husband of the late Maude Ruth Hope Bumgardner. He was a veteran of seryice during World War II. Surviving are two sons, Norman Eugene Bumgard- ner of Clover, S.C. and Barry Wray Bumgardner of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Ms. L’Ange Chastain of Kings Mountain and five grand- children. MARIE C. MOOSE STATESVILLE - Mrs. Marie Combs Moose, 67, of Route 8, died Thursday even- ing in Statesville after a lengthy illness. She is survived by one son, Clyde Moose of Statesville; one daughter, Mrs. Johnny Reavis of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Robert Combs, Charlie Combs and Clay Combs, all of Statesville; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Ingram, Mrs. Mabel Beckham and Mrs. Gladys Beckham, all of Statesville; and four grand- children. Services were conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Baptist Church, sisters, Mrs. Mae Bell Hall of Kankakee, Ill. and Mrs. Lucy Phillips of Charlotte; five grandchildren and one great- grandchild. The family has requested that memorials be made to Paul Henson Leukemia Fund, c/o First Union Na- tional Bank, Kings Mountain, N.C. 28086. J.P. MAYHUE Joseph Pinkney Mayhue, 75, of 820 Cleveland Avenue, died Sunday night at 11:50 p.m. in the Kings Mountain Hospital. He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Ervin and Nora Allen Mayhue and a retired textile employee. Surviving are his wife, Sal- ly Clark Mayhue, and one son, Dr. Wayne Mayhue of Jeffersonville, Indiana and one grandchild. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. BRENDA SHEPPARD Funeral services for Bren- da Melton Sheppard, 39, of Route 4, wife of Gerald Ran- dy Sheppard, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Love Valley Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Lloyd Sanders and Rev. Earl Redding officiated at the rites and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. S sbpard died Friday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was a Cleveland Coun- ty native, daughter of George and Mary VanDyke Melton of the Love Valley Community, and a graduate of Cleveland Technical College. She was a licensed practical nurse and president of the Women’s Missionary Union at Love Valley Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are her son, Scott Randall Shep- pard, of the home; two daughters, Sandra Lynn Sheppard and Sharon Elizabeth Sheppard of the home; two brothers, David W. Melton and Johnny Melton, both of Kings Moun- tain, and one sister, Debbie Kates of Kings Mountain. EASTER MULLINAX Funeral rites for Easter Sutton Mullinax, 72, of 4418 Louis Road, Gastonia, a former resident of Kings Mountain, who died Friday in the Charlotte Memorial Hospital, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Beach Avenue Baptist Church, by Rev. Homer Wilson, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. She was a native of Cosby, Tenn. and daughter of the late John and Ruth Brown Sutton and widow of Stacy A. Mullinax. Surviving are two sons, Dan Mullinax and Alexander Mullinax of Gastonia; two daughters, Nancy Hearold and Patsy McMillan of Gastonia; two sisters, Stacey Naillon of Canebrake, W. Va. and Alice Barnes of Cosby, Tenn. six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. CLETA VALENTINE Funeral services for Cleta Faye Valentine, 63, of 1015 Linwood Road, who died Saturday night at 7:39 p.m. in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Case and Rev. Dorothy Lowery officiated at the rites and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Miss Valentine was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Daniel and Effie McKinney Valen- tine. She was a retired textile employee and former nurses aid at Gastonia Orthopedic Hospital. Surviving are two brothers, Laurence Valentine and Lon- nis Valentine, both of Shelby, and two sisters, Mrs. Ressie Adams of Bessemer City and vs Hazel Hale of Greenville, DARRELL AUSTIN General Manager - 931-040.
