Senator Marshall Rauch, of Gastonia, announced toda that he will seek his tent term in the North Carolina State Senate in 1986. Senator Rauch indicated that he gave careful con- sideration to running for the U.S. Senate as well as the tenth Congressional District. However, he stated today that even though he had been encouraged to run for these .offices, he felt his 20 years of THE seniority and committee chairmanships in the State Senate would be lost to the Twenty Fifth Senatorial District of Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln and Rutherford Counties if he left. Rauch said, “My family and I just love and enjoy the State of North Carolina too much to consider leaving. I hope they will see fit to re-elect me in 1986.” Rauch currently serves as Chairman of the Legislative Ethics Committee and Co- | Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. He is also Senate Chairman of the interium study committees of both Local Government Financing and Legislative .Ethics. Windley Stays Too Walt Windley, North Carolina State Represen- tative (R-Gaston), announc- ed his decision to remain in the North Carolina General Assembly, removing his name from further con- sideration in the upcoming 10th Congressional District race. Windley had previously announced his intentions to seek the Congressional seat. Citing the need for conser- vative representation as his prime consideration and motivation in announcing for Congress, Windley noted, “Upon reflection and evalua- tion, I have determined that my effectiveness at this time will best be utilized in Raleigh. My intent being to establish conservative leadership in state govern- ment and to continue my ef- forts to ensure that Christian principles and values remain inherent. = within - the legislative process.” Windley further noted his participation in numerous House Floor debates and committee meetings, par- ticularly his willingness to challenge those advocating a more liberal social and economic agenda. ‘At this point in my political career, I am committed to becoming a conservative driving-force in Raleigh,” declared Windley. International Christmas Set At CC Museum An International Christmas is presented by the Cleveland County Historical Museum located on the Court Square in Shelby. Highlighted are ex- hibits from various countries that have been presented for the past six years. They in- clude Germany, Poland, Greece, France, England and Spavish Speaking countries. The exhibit includes family heirlooms loaned by families in the Cleveland County area for this special season. Some of these items include collec- tor plates, wood carvings, nutcrackers, icons, and a special handmade ‘‘Szopki” (a reproduction of St. Mary’s Church in Krakow made of cardboard and paper.) Another part of the exhibit is that of porcelain dolls made and dressed by local artists surrounding a series of small Christmas trees decorated by the Phil Acres Garden Club. These special exhibits will be on display at no charge through the first of January. Museum hours are 9-4 weekdays and 2-5 on Sunday.
