Jackson, son of George and Cleone Jackson of 106 Cloninger St., Kings Mountain, has com- pleted one station unit trai- nint (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benn- ing, Ga. OSUT is a 12-week period which combines basic com- bar training and advanced in- dividual training. The training included weapons qualifications, squad tactics, patrolling, landmine warfare, field com- munications and combat operations. Completion of this course qualifies the soldier as a light-weapons in- fantryman and as an indirect-fire crewman. Soldiers were taught to per- form any of the duties in a ri- fle or mortar squad. People In Service KM’s William Roberts : Enlists In U.S. Navy DARRELL ROBERTS William Darrel Roberts of Kings Mountain, has joined the U.S. Navy and will be reporting to the Navy Recruit Training Center at San Diego, Calif. where he will begin his Navy training. After boot camp Darrel will go to the Navy’s Interior Communications School in San Diego, Calif. where he will receive training as an In- terior Communications Specialist. Darrell, son of William Joshua and Edna Mae Roberts, is a 1985 graduate of Kings Mountain High School. Smarr Completes Training Navy Seaman Recruit Dwayne L. Smarr, son of Clara Williams of Route 4, Kings Mountain, has com- pleted recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, II. During Smarr’s eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects Navy’s 85 basic fields. Smarr’s studies included seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of col- lege credit in Physical Education and Hygiene. A 1984 graduate of Kings Young Completes Training Navy Seaman Recruit Nelson E. Young, a 1985 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School, has com- pleted training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Il. During Young’s eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the- job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields. Morrow of Kings Mountain, has com- pleted the basic field artillery cannoneer course under the - one station unit training (OSUT) program at Fort Sill, Oka. During the course, students Pvt.
