Country Club Golf Schedule
The Kings Mon itain Coun-
try Club has announced its
golf tournament schedule for
1986.
The golf season will be cap-
ped off on October 20 with the
annual Ray Barnes Banquet
which is held each year to
honor tournament champions
and the winner of the Ray
Barnes Trophy, which is
decided on a point system.
The tournament season will
begin on March 22-23 with the
Spring Calcutta. Some of the

and the Duck Pin Demons
swept’ four from the KM
Strikers in Youth Bowling
League action Saturday at
Dilling Heating.
Jeff Huffstetler had an 82
line and Angel Myers added a
240 set to lead the Strikers’
victory over the Duck
Busters. Amy Carrigan led
the losers with a 92 line and
244 set.
Jonathan Jones rolled a 105
line and 286 set to lead the
Duck Pin Demons over the
KM Strikers. Robbie
Hullender led the losers with
a 105 line and 265 set.
In action two weeks ago,
the Demons won three of four
games from the Strikers and
the KM Strikers swept the
Duck Busters.
Scott Myers rolled a 104
line and 259 set to lead the
Demons. Kevin Parker led
the losers with a 90 line and
241 set. : :
Tim Fletcher’s 105 line and
271 set led the KM Strikers
over the Duck Busters. Mark
Stacy had a 94 line and 242 set
for the losers.
The Hot Shots swept the No
Names and the Cannonballs
in
A wrestler who once wrestl-
ed for Kings Mountain Junior
High was responsible for
breaking the Patriots’ long
string of victories in the
Western N.C. Junior High
Athletic Association last
week.
Coach Phil Weathers’
Patriots, who had won all 57
of their league matches since
joining the conference nine
years ago, fell to Shelby 39-34
in their last match of the
season when Shelby
heavyweight Richard James
pinned KM’s Fred Byrd to
- erase a 34-33 KM lead.
Still, the Pats finished with
a 5-1 conference and 8-2
overall record and won their
ninth straight conference
championship. Crest was se-
cond with a 4-2 mark, follow-
ed by Shelby at 3-3 and Burns
at 0-6.
“It was a tough loss, but I
can’t fault our kids,” said
Weathers. ‘I’ve had some
great kids to work with and
they're the ones that made
the winning streak
events which annually draw a
huge field include the 10th an-
nual Western Carolina Team
Invitational, the 12th annual
Western Carolina Invita-
tional, ‘the 16th annual
Member Guest, the
American Legion Tourna-
ment, Club Championship
and Member-Member.

Alan Van Dyke rolled a 133
line and 357 set to lead the Hot
Shots over the No Names.
Allen Myers led the Isoers
with a 129 line and 353 set.
Bill Myers rolled a 108 line
and Tommy Barrett added a
315 set to lead the Cannon-
balls over E.S.A.D. Ron
Scruggs led the losers with a
124 line and 339 set.
John Dilling continued to
roll up the 400 sets but his
team dropped three of four
games to Tignor Construction
in Tuesday Mixed League
bowling action at Dilling
Heating.
Dilling rolled a 153 line and
400 set but his high score was
offset by the balanced scor-
ing of the Tignor trio. Lib
Gault led the winners with a
158 line and 362 set. Ethel
Tignor and Dot Mobley each
had 301 sets.
In another match, R.W.
Hullender won three of four
games from Betty Hullender.
Linda Neely had a 132 line
and 360 set for the winners.
Johnny Dye added a 131-352
and Helen Brackett had a
straight pins to take the lead.
The Pats regained the lead at
34-33 when 169-pound Bradley
Henderson of KM pinned
another former KMJH
wrestler, Sterling Feaster.
“We lost in some weight
classes that we had won in
our 49-22 win over Shelby
earlier in the year,”
Weathers said. “I guess the
key to the match was that we
weren’t mentally ready and
Shelby was very high emo-
tionally.”
Despite the loss, Weathers
had six wrestlers to finish the
season unbeaten and his
team continued its home
match winning streak with 29
in a. row. Finishing
undefeated were Andy
Hollifield and D.J. Williams
with 5-0 marks, Lyn Goddard
and Johnny Nations at 7-0,
Chris Henson at 10-0 and
Bradley Henderson at 8-0.
