LIZZIE BLANTON Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Lovelace Blanton, 92, of Route 5, who died Sunday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital after several year’s illness, were conducted Tues- day afternoon at 3 p.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church of which she was a member. Her stor, Rev. Bruce Hancock, officiated at the rites and interment was in the church cemetery. ) Mrs. Blanton was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late James and Jennie Putnam Lovelace and widow of Robert Lee Blanton. Surviving are seven sons, Clyde Blanton and Ranny Blanton, both of Mooresboro, L.D. Blanton of Bostic, Buren Blanton, Sidney Blanton, Raymond Blanton and Wesley Blanton, all of Kings Mountain; one brother, Jake Lovelace of Clover, S.C., 32 grandchildren, 49 great- grandchildren and six great- great grandchildren. JAMES MATTISON, JR. James Frank Mattison, Jr., 65, of Route 3, Dunes Drive, Woodbridge, died Wednes- day. A native of McCormick, S.C., he was employed in the textile industry for 35 years ..and was vice president of yarn manufacturing with Artee Industries. For the last seven years, he was employed with Keeter Ford’ Co. He was a member of Mine Lodge No. 117 AFM in McCor- mick, S.C., and Westside Baptist Church in Shelby. He was the son of the late James F. and Sujette Cooper Mattison. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Franklin Mattison; two sons, James F. Mattison, III of Lincolnton, Ga., and Sameul T. MARTIN Funeral services for James Marvin Martin, 68, of 909 Boyce St., who died Wednes- day in Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Martin was a native of Lincoln County, a retired tex- tile supervisor, and son of the late William Pless and Ada Walker Martin. He is surviv- ed by his wife, Carrie Riddle Martin, of the home; one son, Ronnie Martin of Bessemer City; two daughters, Mrs. Kathy Gregory of Charlotte and Mrs. Terri Ghent of Southport; one brother, Dewery Martin of Shelby; four sisters, Mrs. Cordia Elmore of Lincolnton, Mrs. Bryte Black of Crouse, Mrs. Helen Black of Waco and Mrs. Lisa Suber of Charlotte; and four grandchildren. Rev. Eddie Black officiated at the rites. SALLIE MARTIN Funeral services for Sallie Gantt Martin, 92, of 1430 Se- cond St. Ext., who died Wednesday in Kings Moun- tain Hospital, were con- ducted Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Jacob and Tina Gantt and the widow of Otis Theodore Mar- tin. Surviving are eight sons, Elbert Martin of Grover, Willard Martin of Port Orange, Fla., Gene Martin of Hickory, and O.D. Martin, Jay Martin, Elmer Martin, Ray Martin and Dean Mar- tin, all of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Mae Black of Gastonia and Ivey Smith of Kings Mountain; three half brothers, Russell Gantt of Boone and Thurmon Gantt and Clarence Gantt of Kings Mountain; three half-sisters, Louise Whitaker of Shelby and Ruby Tate and Geneva Freeman of Kings Mountain; 59 grandchildren; 135 great- grandchildren; and 15 great- great grandchildren. Rev. Mitchell Pruitt and Rev. George Leigh officiated at the rites. DORIS BULLARD Funeral services for Doris Marie Bullard, 59, of 603 Block St., Rock Hill, S.C, who died Wednesday in the VA Hospital at Columbia, S.C. were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. from Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, interment following in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Filbert, S.C. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, she was a self-employed beautician and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion Aux- -iliary. Surviving are two sons, Craig Bullard and Bobby Bullard of Rock Hill, S.C., three brothers, Charles Dun- can of Tampa, Fla., George Duncan of Ocala, Fla. and Bobby Duncan of Wayside, Ga. and one sister, Jewel Leigh of Kings Mountain. DAVID BURTON Funeral services for David Marcus (Byrd) Burton, 71, of 12 Bennett Drive, who died Tuesday, were conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. from “Faith Baptist Church by Rev. Harold Upton and Rev. J.C. Goare, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. He was a retired textile super- visor with Reeves Brothers and a member of Faith Bap- tist Church. He was the son of the late William and Jackie Burton. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Kimbrell Burton; seven foster sons, Bobby G. Hullender and Jerry Huff- stickler of Kings Mountain, Lawrence w. Hullender of Tacoma, Washington, Jef- frey Huffstickler of Cher- ryville, James Huffstickler of Swannanoa and Rodney Kim- brell and Charles Kimbrell of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two foster daughters, Louise Tucker of Kings Mountain and Lucille Brewer of Green- ville, S.C. and three sisters, Lucille Honeycutt of Rock Hill, S.C., Margaret Spurling of Gastonia, and Mrs. Willie Wright of Kings Mountain. VIOLA BENTON Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Viola Adams Benton, 82, of Hardin Circle, Grover, were conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. from Bethany Baptist Church of Grover of which she was a member. Rev. James Sanders of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment which is Antioch Bap- tist Church Cemetery near Grover. Mrs. Benton, wife: of Charlie Benton, died Monday in the Kings Mountain Hospital. CAROL WILLIAMS Winston-Salem - Carol Greene Williams, 41, of 720 Laurel St., died Friday at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty and a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, she was the daughter of Ruby B. Greene of Kings Mountain and the late Evan B. Greene. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church’ and an employee of Wachovia Bank & Trust. : Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Robert Williams Jr.; a brother, William E. Greene of Kings Mountain; and two sisters, Patsy Snyder and Diane Greene of Winston- Salem. Services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Vogler’s Main Street Chapel by Dr. Joel Jenkins and the Rev. Jack Nance. Burial was in Park Lawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Long Tate, 89, of 209 Waco Road, wife of Grady Tate, Sr., were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Kings Mountain Baptist Church of which she was a member. Mrs. Tate died Saturday at home. : She was a native of Cleveland County and a retired textile employee. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Grady Tate, Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Alfred Tate of Kings Mountain and Vernon Tate of Charlotte; one sister, Mrs. Lorene Anderson of Kings Mountain; and seven grand- children.
