MARY HORD GREENSBORO - Mrs. Mary Stone Hord, 49, of 1506 Valleymeade Road, died Mon., Apr. 7 at Wesley Long Community Hospital: Funeral services were con- ducted Thurs., Apr. 10 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in New Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Hord was a native of Wake County, a member of First Presbyterian Church and a secretary for Greensboro Day School. She is survived by her hus- band, George Van Buren Hord, formerly of Kings Mountain; daughters, Misses Elizabeth and Rebecca Hord CARD OF THANKS We are sincerely grateful to the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kind- ness and sympathy during the illness and death of our dear mother and wife. LILLIE HARMON Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Beattie Harmon, 90, of Route 6, who died Sunday in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. from El Basketball Camp Set June 9-14 Larry Sipe’s annual Cham- pions of Tomorrow Basket- all Camp is scheduled for June 9-14 at the Kings Moun- tain High School gym. The camp is open to boys ' and girls who are in grades two through eight. It will run from 8 a.m. until noon each day. The first 35 persons who ap- ply will be accepted. Each camper will receive an of- ficial camp T-shirt, basket- ball, handbook “and cer- tificate. Trophies will be awarded to outstanding campers. The fee is $35. A $15 deposit is due with the application and the remaining $20 is due the first day of camp. Ap- lications must be submitted efore May 15. To obtain an application form, contact Coach Sipe at Kings Mountain High School (739-5401). John Dilling Bowls 389 Set John Dilling rolled a 140 line and 389 set Tuesday to lead his team to three wins over Robert Hullender in Mixed Duckpin Bowling League action at Dilling Heating. i Bill Myers had a 128 line and 340 set, Joann Myers a 122 line and 339 set and Hullender a 139 line and 335 set for the losers. : In another match, Betty Hullender and Tignor Con- struction split four games. Lib Gault led Tignore with a 138 line and 372 set and Doris Bradshaw led Hullender with a 134 line and 343 set. E.S.A.D. Wins Three Games E.S.A.D. won three games from the No Names and the Cannon-balls won three from the Hot Shots in Thursday Night Duckpin Bowling League action at Dilling Heating. Jack Barrett’s 144 line and 351 set led E.S.A.D. over the No Names. Allen Myers led the losers with a 134 line and 367 set. Johnny Reavis bowled a 118 line and 341 set to lead the Cannonballs over the Hot Shots. Betty Hullender’s 137 line and 356 set led the losers. Women’s Golf Events Scheduled Upcoming golfing “events for women in the Kings Mountain Women’s Golf Association are announced by Peggy Jackson, president. The 30th annual Foothills Play Day, a two-day event at Rock Barn in Conover, will be held May 5-6. Reservations are due at the pro shop or by calling Lynne Mauney by April 25th. > The Kings Mountain Coun- try Club’s Couple’s Member- Member event is slated for April 26-27 and will be a low net play tournament with din- ner and dancing to close out the two-day event. Members interested should sign up at the pro shop. Reservations are needed by April 24th. Bethel United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Her pastor, Rev. Lynn Sor- rells, was assisted by Rev. E.L. Murphy in officiating at the rites and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Harmon was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late William H. and Margaret Huffstetler Beattie and widow of Marvin Jones Harmon. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hardin, of Kings Mountain, and her sister, Mrs. Bessie Dellinger of Cherryville. Scisso & Co. Welker, 88, of 611 Tem- ple Street, who died in Eaton, Ohio, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home by Rev. Darrell Coble, interment following in A.R. Diche Cemetery in London, Ky. Mrs. Welker was a native of Pittsburgh, Ky. and a retired licensed practical nurse. She was visiting relatives in Eaton, Ohio at the time of her death and died after an extended illness.
