Over 750 KMHS students, or about 90 percent of the stu-
dent body, participated in the event. This marked the se-
t year KMHS has raised over $3,000. Kings
Mountain is” the only high school in North Carolina that
sponsors a fund drive for the American Cancer Society.
Baker said that since 1982, KMHS students have raised
over $11,000 for cancer research.
“This was a whole school effort,” he said. ‘We feel like it
is outstanding that the students went over $3,000 for the se-
cond straight year. It shows they care about their fellow
man. This is a good example of young people doing
something for which they get nothing in return except for
| the satisfaction of helping someone else.”
